Title: New Trigger for the HW98
Post by: Nitrocrushr on April 15, 2015, 08:40:47 PM
Well it's been a rough week and I have not been on the forum since last Friday......we had to put our yellow lab down on Friday night, very sad time.  He was 12 years old in December, great dog.

After 4 or 5 rough days I got home to find my Rowan Straight Profile Setback Trigger had arrived.  I needed something to get my mind off of things so I headed down to the work bench and installed the trigger on my HW98.  What a sweet trigger 8)  Highly polished and very well made.  Perfect drop-in fit.  The trigger also comes with a low profile spring tension adjustment screw.  I took a few pictures so you guys can see the comparisons between the original trigger and the new one.  Can't wait to try it out this weekend ;D

Here is the Rowan Straight Setback Trigger installed;

Here is the original trigger;

And a side profile of the Rowan trigger;

And original trigger laying directly on top of the Rowan;

Looks like showroom stuff you got there.  Is that one of the rifle stocks that you have had refinished?

Hi Paul, Yes this is the HW98 I just refinished.

Sorry about your dog, Steve.  Glad your back.  Beautiful trigger, now take that thing out and shoot the &^^& out of it, as well as your TX.    ;D

There is a current 30 yard bench rest competition going on right now ... check out the Shooting Match Gate.

You need to make the KY trip.

It's tough to lose a family friend like yours who's been close for 12 years.  That Rowan trigger looks nice; it makes for an easier reach off the bench.

Thanks Allan ;)  I am anxious to get out this weekend to test the new trigger.  I had it out only one day this week prior to the new trigger install.  Verified zero at 50 yards, then went for a 5 shot group aiming at one of the tiny numbers on the target.  First shot took the number out with a dead center hit.  Next three connected with the first in a string of 4 shots less than 3/8" ctc, then shot 5 was just to the right.  All 5 shots easily covered with a dime.  Super consistent rifle!  The TX is having some scope troubles unfortunately.  I hope to get that resolved ASAP so I can get it back in the game.  I will check into the 30 yard bench rest competition.  It's doubtful I will get to KY, but you never know.

You got that right.  He was a big part of this family for sure and will be missed tremendously.

That's exactly what I am looking for in the Rowan straight trigger.  Although I have not tested it at the range yet, it feels awesome with the shorter reach.  I believe the straight profile will provide more usable surface area on the trigger as well.  I will be range testing it Saturday morning :D

Steve, I know what you just went through with your dog.  We lost our girl right after Christmas (she was 13, a yellow lab with a heart of gold).  Words can't express the heartbreak.
On a happier note, the 98 looks incredible.  You've created a spring rifle masterpiece, my friend.  I can't wait to see what you do next.

Horrible losing your pup.
We waited a couple years after our Akita died.....just hurt too bad. We got a surprise this Christmas and now I wish we didn't wait so long!

Rifle looks amazing Steve!!!
