Title: How do H&N's Excite pellets differ from their regular pellets?
Post by: NickB79 on April 10, 2015, 08:37:39 PM
They appear to be slightly cheaper, so does this mean they aren't held to as strict of quality control?

H&N has 7 or 8 pellets under the Excite name and there is no common denominator between them

That bottom one is the one that is advertised for cheap plinking but PA lists it as good only to 10 yards. That is the cheapest one and it is still more expensive then Crosman Premiers.

The H&N Excite Plinking pellet is among the least expensive H&N fare.  It's a wadcutter and at 7.48 grains is lightweight.  H&N makes other wadcutters that are available in different head sizes.  The Excite Plinking is not.  As jessered notes, PA says they are good for up to 10 yards.  The H&N website indicates there is a similar pellet called the Excite Econ, which also has an "ideal field of use" of 10 meters.

The H&N website describes the Plinking:  "The classic choice for plinking, hobby shooting and CO2 pistol. Meets all basic requirements of quality and precision. Unbeatable price-performance ratio. Ribbed."

The Econ:  "Lightweight accurate pellet for plinking, hobby shooting and CO2 pistols. Meets all basic requirements. For universal use at an extremely favourable price. Smooth."

i recently bought the excite dynamics and they are pure trash.  I shot them out of a hw95 in .22cal @ 30yds and there was no rifling on the head.  The skirt is soooo thin and when shot by the hw, the whole pellet were found right at the target.  the target was pinned to a small card table and the head was not deformed, skirt was terribly damaged and i would never shoot them again.

I have tried the Hammers in .177 in the 1377 and the .22 in the QB-78. Both shot well (nickel to dime groups) at 12-13 yards. Good for beer can killing but I prefer the pellets that shoot like lasers out of the AG's I have.

For their price though, give them a try.

I used this topic to make a decision between excite pellets. I ordered the plinking and Econ 2. In my Beretta PX4 Storm mags, the plinking are a little loose. Some of them fall out of the mag. Like they’re not large enough. The Econ 2 fit well. None fall out of my mags. So I feel the Econ 2 are a little more to spec. They are both cheap pellets but the Econ seem to be “actual” size. Both are cheap so from a pistol….. whatever. Looks like some of the ranges order them in bulk for the same reason. I’m going with Econ 2 just cuz they fit my mags well. But the Econ and plinking work well in my Dan Wesson 715 2.5 and 4 inch. The Dan Wesson 715 6 inch is horrible. Like the earlier post, the 6 doesn’t leave rifling on them. But everything else has been fine. This is pistols tho. 10-15 yards. I feel anything further, because they’re budget and light, may not be that accurate. Just my 2 cents.

Tried a few of the excite branded pellets. They were terrible in both my Hw30 and Hw95. They were no better than bulk Crosmans.

I've since given up on cheap pellets. Now I just keep an eye out for a sale on good pellets. Spend a little money and shooting will be more enjoyable. After all, when don't you want to hit your target?

The econ 2s have been great for me in several different rifles and pistols. I recommend them.

Ron I would like to use this statement in the future with your permission, this describes me to the letter.

I tried the Excite plinking pellets as They were on sale for a good price last year. Horrible pellet.

They would not group, they patterned...like a shot gun, in both my Cayden and Concept XR.

I found the Excite to do ok in many of my pumpers and CO2 Keep them under 700 FPS, good plinking ammo.

Yeah….. definitely not “match grade”. For my purposes of plinking and targets at 10 yards they work well. Less expensive than my other pellets that I’d save for serious shooting. They’ve gone up on PA to $5.99, but still worth it to me for killing time plinking cans. I also fill Chinese food containers/boxes with paper from my shredder and put target stickers on them. Catches the pellets for indoor shooting pretty well. But yes, not great for long range shooting. My pistols love ‘em tho!  8)
