Title: Who wanted a 1400?
Post by: avator on April 10, 2015, 05:41:50 PM
Someone was looking for a Crosman 1400. Can't remember who it was. I ran across this on on the yellow.

I've been starting a small collection. I may need to sign up to that site and pick that beauty up.

10 pumps is too much for that gun .....

I hardly ever go past 5 pumps on any of my pumpers. No need, just extra wear on the linkage... the gun's and mine.  :o

The main thing is that it is hard on the linkage..  you can also blow out the seals.

And anything over abut 8 pumps makes the trigger really stiff. The more you pump these the stiffer the trigger gets.

And they can actually go off on their own. I have a 140 that will fire on it's own at 10 pumps. I never load a pellet until it's pumped. Even them I make sure it's aimed in a safe direction. I learned this by shooting a hole in my back porch ceiling. Be very careful when doing trigger work on these guys. You can easily make them too light and unsafe. Now to be fair.. the 140 I'm talking about is the one that has the trigger in the stock on a pin, not the one with the trigger group.

I've had my Sears gun fire on pumping too. It's got thd cast trigger and I had the sear spring adjusted to lite. Put a little more tension on it and it hasn't done that again. But like you these are pump first load second kind of guns.

Congrats.. my 1400 is one of my favorite pumpers. You are a lucky guy, if I had $100 laying around when I first saw it you wouldn't be holding it right now... lol
