Title: Hawke 3x9 Airmax Map 6
Post by: cabellero59 on April 10, 2015, 12:09:46 PM
I've been reading some good things on this forum about the Hawke scopes.  I am currently using a Leupold compact 4x rimfire special and also have a 2-7 compact rimfire special I've thought about putting on the R7.   Both of these would require sending them into Leupold to have the parallax changed to 15 or 20 yds.  I love these little scopes because they are so light weight, clear, and with very fine reticules.  Every time i've tried to save money in the past with a Tasco, Simmons, etc., I end up taking them off and going back to the Leupolds.  Does the Hawke have a thick cross hair and do you all think it would seem clunky compared to the Leupold's?  The Map 6 reticule is very appealing to me.

I really like the MAP 6 reticle, very thin and not bad glass for the cost. But if you're used to Leupolds',, it might be tough going to Hawke.

Also, if you're planning on using the Airmax on a spring air rifle that has a bit more recoil....good luck.  :(  I've sent back two or three ?? scopes for warranty replacement due to the same reticle issue, the entire reticle turns/cants inside, breaking free from recoil.
Seems some fellows have had better results from the Airmax than I have, could be older models were made stronger, my bad experiences have been in the past few months.

I had an Airmax and was very pleased with it.  Most who have this scope rate it very highly.
