Title: Dueling Tree Target
Post by: josixpack on April 08, 2015, 07:24:10 PM
I’ve been trying to design a dueling tree target where two shooters will shoot at the same size targets ranging in size from 2.5” down to .5”.  The shooter who hides all his targets first wins.  I've seen them where the targets flip back and forth but I wanted something different.

I had a company called at www.metaltargets.com (http://www.metaltargets.com) make me the steel paddles for $6.00 each and I’m very pleased with the results. Image below.

Below is the dueling tree concept which does work.  I used Velcro to hold the paddles back once hit as they would bounce back forward with my higher powered guns.   I need to come up with a reset but I’ve got an idea spinning around in my head.  I should be able to glue wood, drill holes this weekend and attach both sets of paddles.

I just order another Beeman P17 pellet pistol so it should be fun once completed to see who can load the fastest and shoot the most accurate. I have up to 35 feet in my basement so distances can vary.

As always just sharing in case anyone is interested.

Great idea, Jo6pak. Sounds like you're up for lots of fun. Now why couldn't that have been ready to go last December?  Winter wouldn't have hurt so bad!!,!,!
Have fun, that's what it's ALL about.

This is how I made one a couple years ago. A scaled down version of the big tree next to it.
You should try to keep the tree level right to left and play with the forward tilt for best results.

I saw those when I started looking and seem nice but I'm not a fan of the back and forth design.  I want the targets to go back out if sight once hit and different sized targets to increase the difficulty.

I have the SP dueling tree, you can adjust the tension on the paddles to accommodate the lower fpe guns. Air Venturi has a biathalon target that may work for you as well.

Besides velcro, I'm thinking magnets would work well also............perhaps even better.
