Hi everyone. I lean towards buying the Daisy Avanti 853CM. Please answer a few questions for me.
--The Avanti 853CM and Avanti Elite 753 have the same trigger and sights, right?
--They both have the Walther barrel so the barrels are the same, right?
--In your opinion is it better to buy a used older air rifle or just by a new one?
--Are all new Daisy's made in China now? I read somewhere that at least one of them is made there.
Both of these air rifles have a Monte Carlo stock. I feel I shoot better with a Monte Carlo stock. Thank you for your help.

Bud,
My wife and I have used CMP 853's. Both are one holers at 10 yards. The question is do you want a new? At a hundred bucks a piece, they were great purchases. Didn't feel the need for magizines.

From the pix, the sights look like the same as on the 753.
The 753 and 853 have Walther barrels.
Only the 953 has the Daisy barrel.
IMHO a good used rifle is just fine, most of my target air guns are used. However, if you feel uncomfortable with used, buy new. Because that uncomfortable feeling might haunt you forever.
I upgraded my 853 to a CM.
Personally I prefer the plastic stock of the 853CM/953. It is heavier than the wood stock of the 753, making it easier for me to shoot it. Though you could drill and add weights to the 753 stock and keep the look of wood.

Same trigger but different sights. The 753 sights are a different height than the stock 853 sights.

From the pix that I've seen, the 853CM has the 753 sights. Which is MUCH better than the stock 853 sights.

I upgraded my sights on the CMP 853 to 753 sights (around $50 from Daisy). I don't shoot any better but they just look nicer to me.

Oops. I missed it was a CM model.

The 753 rear sights are easier to adjust. And you can change the front insert, and that is a really good thing. Because the insert size can make a difference in how well you shoot.
