Title: Airforce Talon filling questions
Post by: Tpatner412 on July 29, 2010, 02:36:58 PM
So I am looking into the talon and my question is what is necessary to fill the gun from a non-airforce pump, i.e. adaptors, hoses etc. ?

Which is better the Benji Pump or the Airforce Pump?

I use a carbon fiber tank to fill my rifles so I'm just passing along hearsay, but you should head over to the Talon forum http://talonairgun.com/forum (http://talonairgun.com/forum) and ask the question.  They have a bunch of info about airforce pumps.  To paraphrase the general consensus over there, they are not liked much.  Good luck.

You can use any pump you want to fill your talon, it's a simple matter of getting the correct adaptor.  Pyramydair, as well as other sites that sell Air Force accessories, will have the Air Force adaptor that you need.  Install it on your pump and your ready to fill.  As for the Air Force pump and the Benji pump.... they're basically the exact same pump.  Remo is correct.... neither one has the best reputation so you might want to look at the "Hill" pump..... it seems to be the one most people prefer.  That being said I have an Air Force pump and a Benji pump and have been using them for several years now without any problems whatsoever.  The key with either is to just go slow and takes brakes periodically to prevent the pump from over heating.  Maybe I've just been lucky with my Air Force and Benji pumps but they've worked great for me, but I'll be the first to say that the Hill pump is superior to both.....

Thanks guys I really appreciate the info.  I"ll probably just get the benji pump with a disco and if it brakes I'll look into the Hill.

You'll love the disco/pump combo.  The very first fill to 2000 psi will be a little bit of a workout, but after that it'll be a walk in the part when you're just topping off after a 30-40 yard shot string.  That 2000 psi fill is a wonderful thing, gives you a ton of shots and is very easy to pump back up.  Let us know how  you make out....
