Title: 4 tins of .177 pellets/ HW50
Post by: paoli on March 23, 2015, 12:04:10 PM
what 4 tins of .177 pellets should I buy to break in a new HW50 (plinking, target, maybe small pests)?  They all don't have to be different and the idea of course, is to find one to run with.
Thanks GTA.

Welcome Steve!!
I would go with JSB 7.3, 7.87, 8.4 and H&N Field Target Trophy in 4.51 head size.
I would almost guarantee one will be THE ONE!!!
Good luck, enjoy.....and we insist on pics!!!

thanks Joe,
thinking maybe 2x FTT's, 1 each JSB 7.87, 7.33's. I'm kind of partial to the HN's now after TX break-in, bro.

Don't blame you one bit Steve!!
If I were you, I would try 4.51 and 4.52. I had the best results with these in all my rifles. My HWs, 97 & 98 didn't shoot 4.50 well at all but love the other 2!!
Let us know which she likes!!

Yes Joe,
My .22 TX seems to like HNN 14.66 grs, could only find the .53 head size, pretty tight fit, but best I've found so far.  As a side note, if I had a do-over would have gotten the TX-200 in .177 cal. as the CO altitude plays heck in diminishing velocity in the .22 TX config.

I agree Steve. I think 177 is perfect for the TX power plant.
I love mine bro!!
