I get my slugs from Mr. Hollowpoint, not had any issues with them in my marauder .25. Fast shipping and paypal friendly. Bob does have a day job so be patient with email responses, he will try to respond that day if not it's the next day for sure.

I like the fact that he can size them for different bore diameters.

Rat sniper.. I think he was setting his son up to crush lead for the .22 cal.

Having just spent the weekend watching John manufacture his Swaged pellets on a CUSTOM Size / Weight / Profile basis, Just WOW !!
Had him make me up 100ea 31 grain conical point .25 cal bullets being a specific fit for the Green mountain barrel.
There not cheap, but quality is FIRST RATE !! & highly recommend checking him out ;)

Does he (John) have a website? If not, how do you go about ordering some of his swagged slugs?

x3 on Johns slugs, I got very good accuracy and power out of mine. The 1 e nose shot touching groups at 40 yds as logas I kept the velocity up. I have 3 sizes and nose set upsin both 40 and 45 gr. Dude does good work and is co;; to just shoot the breeze with.
PM through here and he gets back pretty quick.

Whats the best way to custom fit your slug measure your grooves on your barrel or in between each groove
-
The bullet should be very close to the groove diameter of your barrel.... within 0.001" either way.... Some guys have one opinion, some the other, but that is what you need to measure....
Bob
-
Thanks Bob! One more question is it better to measure from the breech side or from the muzzle
-
You have to measure at the breech, in front of the barrel port, chamber, and leade.... Some barrels are choked at the muzzle and will measure smaller.... Then again, if they are choked, they may not like bullets that are fitted properly to the breech end.... Any time you go to bullets, whether cast or swaged, you will very likely have to rechamber the barrel and use a leade with a shallower taper....

This sounds rather difficult to measure ,correct me if i misunderstood, but you would have to measure an inch or two into the barrel correct?
-
I've given up on slugs for small bores. The reason being it seems that pellets just work better and considering if you're hunting small game, a heavy pellet is more than enough to take down most small game. My personal opinion is that 30 cal and above should be used for medium game so if you don't make a perfect shot, you still can make a clean kill. My 25 cal Sumatra with 43 gr pellets generate over 80 fpe but I wouldn't shoot anything larger than a fox or racoon with it.
-
The 32 gr ej are .218 which was a tight fit and happens to work the best with harder heavier lead. The 25.4 gr jsb are .216 but soft lead. I went with the larger size and they really grabbed the grooves and shot well.
-
Barrels are typically measured by driving a slightly oversize lead slug into the bore at the breech, past any tapered leade, and then pushing it back out from the muzzle.... You then can measure the OD to determine the groove diameter, and across the rifling grooves to determine the land diameter....

I use johninthecamper pellets! They work great 8)
