Hey Guys,
Sorry if this has been discussed before in another post, but here goes.
When chambering the pellet in my .177 BAM B50, the last 1/4" required a good effort to ultimately seat the pellet in the chamber. Some pellets are easier than others, but all require some bit for additional force.
I'm thinking I need to cut a taper in the beginning of the barrel so that the transfer between breach/barrel in unnoticeable.
Has anybody else had this problem? What tools were used to solve it?
Any comments would be appreciated ;)

A dremel stone OR cratex point in a bullet shape nose sized down to "Just Fit" throat attached to a Long shaft spun low speed in a drill dress's it up nicely.

Hey Motorhead,
I've got everything except a long, narrow shaft. I've never seen one.....I don't think ???
Anything more simple, like tapered wood dowel wrapped in 500 grit paper? or tapered dower dipped in 400 clover - spun in drill?
:P

kirk,
is the bolt only hard to close when there is a pellet in it?
on the 50 i got,
the bolt oring seemed to fit tight in the breech in the last quarter inch before closed,
pretty much the same thing that you are describing.
might not be the pellet hanging up.
just a thought :)

Problem with wood is that it is SOFTER that parts your wishing to take metal from :P
Now you could make a wood dowel sized to fit throat having a VERY shallow angle point , then glue some 220-400 wet/dry to the point area and get-r-done that way ;)

Thanks Motorhead,
I'll go with the cheap route in lieu of the Dremel extention.
Hey starlingassassin: The bolt does hang up about 25% w/o a pellet? With a pellet, you sometimes need to really want that pellet to go in. Almost feels like you put in a .22 cal. pellet by accident, until you push a little more and then it seats.....
I let you know the final fix when done.

Check this too ... My receiver on the .25 conversion rifle was jacked up in this regard >:(
With receiver in hand and bolt/cock lug still in place ... make sure the cock lug travels end to end within slot SMOOTHLY not hanging or catching.
* This rifle required some grinding of the slots side because the Main cocking bolt hole and Lug slot were NOT machined in correct alignment making cocking VERY notchy feeling from lug dragging along one side in a state of binding :P

also check the detent ball set up for the bolt, too tight and it will cause problems

Hey Guys,
Did a little work today and realized most of the problem stemmed from the fact that my bolt shaft was bent. I knew it was bent slightly when I initially polished it, but hadn't considered it that bad. We'll I was wrong......... :P Now, mostly fixed :D
RWS "Supers" slide right in w/o any friction and domed pellets rub a little bit. Cocking bolt (screw in piece) passage a little rough too and might still try hitting the breach with some 500 grit paper attached to a slightly, tapered dowel. I'll shoot a bit and see.
Thanks all for giving input ;)
