Well, it happened. My chrony WIA a couple of nights ago. I wanted to get some numbers to respond to a Beeman RS2 post on China Gate. So I got the ol' .22 RS2 out and set up the chrony. Mis-judged the 3rd shot and pow! Right through the back half. Still got a 708fps reading! ;D
And it missed the sensor so it still works! Here's pics of the wound. I better up-armor that baby.

Deja vu :)

Welcome to the exclusive Chrony Shooter's League. I suspect there are more of us than are willing to admit it.
I think you tore a little more metal than my first (Alpha model). My second was really just a graze, not full pellet engagement. The third was a very low powered gun, just a black dent. Still works great, and now it has some stories to tell the other chronies.
Not the best job in the appliance world, to be sure!

I place a piece of wood about an inch high angled toward the rear across the top in front of the hinge to avoid that mishap....
-
Cut a 2x6 to fit in the empty space between the front and rear sensors. Shoot over the 2x6, but if you misjudge, you'll hit the 2x6 instead of the rear sensor

Sorry to see the damage - but it looks like that Beeman
really hits hard! :)

Glad to hear I have lots of company. The block of wood in front of the rear sensor sounds like a good idea. And maybe a half inch piece of plexiglass in the front.
Thanks!

Wow guys, you all have made me feel a lot better. I shot the back sensor of mine the same day I bought it.
