Title: Counting down the minutes....
Post by: silent_airman on March 07, 2015, 05:29:15 PM
...until tomorrow, when i finally take possession of my very first AirForce Condor from a buddy. Dang that clock is ticking slower and slower! I'm gonna shoot the blasted thing! Maybe I will, once the Condor has landed.

Anyway, here's a couple pics and maybe you can see why the clock seems to be dragging along.

I just about have the support system in place, consisting of a Shoebox Max, Ninja tanks, and a shop compressor. I'm going Darkside baby! 8)

I can see why you are impatient.

The gun is a beauty, George.  You must plan to put on a rest and drool on it.  You can't shoot it.  Maine hasn't thawed yet has it?

;D ;D George I'll swap with you your Condor for my AF Edge since you don't plan on shooting long range, besides the .177 pellets are much cheaper to buy in quantity. Unless nobody has told you plan on consuming way more pellets  ;) ;) ;D

Seriously congratulations on the new rifle

Thanks. I got a feeling that this gun is going to seriously change the way I shoot. My other guns I shoot for kicks, but this one I will shoot for the challenge and to learn how to be a good marksman. Sure, I'll shoot it for fun, but fun of a different sort. Time to stop splashing around in the shallow end, and swim out to deeper waters.

Thanks. Yeah, it's still winter, but I still have plenty to do in learning this new system. And yeah, I will have to keep a gun cloth handy to wipe off the drool lol. :P ::) ;D

Yup, a goner for sure. I can see dust already forming on the other guns. Poor, neglected things. :-[ ;D Yeah, I have to keep a tight rein on things. This could get out of hand very easily. :o

If you rub the drool really fast with a terry cloth it puts a nice protective shine on your gun :P.

Congrats and enjoy George ;D

George, for some of us, this "getting out of hand" thing is just what you have listed for your "support system."

The stock really make AF guns look better; in their original form they really look uncomfortable to shoot.  I shot one before and didn't like the ergonomics at all.  Enjoy your new toy...

I definitely agree with you. It looked clumsy at best. I really like this stock.

What can I say? Wow? That seems weak. Impressed? Way beyond that. And that was just from shooting out of the kitchen window at some cans in the backyard. What an incredible machine this is! I can definitely say it was worth the wait. When I first got into airgunning and didn't know much, the AirForce Talon SS and Condor SS were my dream guns. I didn't know about high pressure air or how the guns were filled. Being an Air Force veteran, it just seemed fitting that I should own one. Well, the support system proved to be beyond my means at the time and it was the mountain that stood in my way for years. I never stopped wanting a Condor, but it seemed like pie in the sky. I tried other types, but deep down I knew I would not be happy until I made the leap into hyperspace and went Dark Side.

Well, here I am at last. And I am loving it! Tomorrow I refill my gun for the first time. I will also be starting up my Shoebox to refill one of my Ninja 90ci tanks, (I have 3) also for the first time. I feel a bit unqualified, but I have a buddy to coach me through it.

I want to thank you all for your kind words.

;D If you are bored you an burn through 500 in an afternoon of shooting since cocking and loading an 18 gr pellet is not very tiring  ;D ;D ;D  With my .177 AA S510 there are some nights where I will burn through 200 pellets in very little time before I switch to another PCP or pick up a springer to slow the pace a little

It is quite easy to just shoot and shoot and not keep count. These PCPs are very addictive! ;D

The only reasons I sold the Condor was the .25 pellets were putting me in the poor house. Now all I shoot is a few .22s (MROD & TX200) and a ton of .177s. That gun is just plain purdy. I think I want a Daystate Royal next, or an HW90, or maybe both. LOL

;D Jesse you can't go wrong with either I love the Daystate Regal XL and Ditto for the RX2 I will keep both and most of the others I now own . The RX2 is definitely my favorite springer with the TX200 in second place tied with the D460.

My TX200 is in 2nd place and will stay there no matter how many guns I own. I have a special attachment to her, and to think I nearly traded her. :)

I am trying to not look beyond the Condor. I want to give her my full and undivided attention. Besides, I also have stuff to learn about balancing tanks and getting the most out of my Shoebox. I shudder to think about what I've already spent. I realize that the support system was a one time investment and will pay for itself over time, but that was a big pill to swallow.

But, here I am! I have the gun of my dreams and the means to enjoy it. Bring on spring!
