Best PCP airgun deal in the country....bar none and it's over today.

Those rubber grommets really do dress it up, don't they?
-
Stephen you really shouldn't miss your next optical appointment. :-)

What did I miss? Looks like the safety holes have those rubber plugs.
Spelled my name wrong by the way.

Has anyone stripped the paint off a Gen 1.5 breech? Mine looks... not as swell as that one. Heavy brush marks from the cover-up paint so it's got to go and get refinished. I'm thinking black baked on caliper paint or maybe something more matte. Any input on a good stripper for the "aftermarket finish"?
I notice the gap between the barrel and filler is a lot bigger on the gun pictured above than it is on my Gen 1.5, my problem child Gen 1 is actually touching. The PO had the rubber nipple cover jammed in there. Is there a lot of variation in that area or have I got at least one bent barrel? Any already known fix?

Yep, mine was in bad shape...the air tube also. The stock had rough spots that scraped the paint off. I just picked up a can of aerosol paint stripper from the local hardware. It took about three applications and some fine steel wool to get it all off. I'm going to get some primer and satin black to repaint it, the air tube and a few other small pieces...once it warms up round here!

Hmm... I wonder how a brushed metal finish would look...
Too bad the Gen 1.5 has a plastic barrel band.

What I did on my 22 was cut off the barrel band (leave the tube portion) and then grind a flat spot on the barrel for clearance. Not pretty but worked okay.
On my new to me 177 I used a Crosman barrel spacer jammed in from fill cap to barrel band. Alternatively you could probably get away with a smaller piece between the breech and band. That may provide enough lift.
Both are Gen 1.

A few weeks ago, I picked up this Gen 1 used from another member here.
he had modified a QB barrel band to fit.
Here's a pic

Thanks for the ideas!

please do not mention logo on the rifle under the paint...part of the deal to get these, will be doing better in the paint now that the flurry has died down...just couldn't keep up...working on getting more barrel bands also...
-
What logo? It's as bare a Christmas goose under there AFAIK...
No complaints on the paint, just want to dress it up.

Those pictures make me think the same thing.

This might be my new favorite pellet rifle. Not sure if anything has been done to it but it is accurate with a good trigger. I haven't even cleaned the barrel yet. Filling is a breeze! Probably one shot per pump? Only con is maybe no pressure gauge and a little tricky to load the pellet with an scope attached. Very happy with this find.
