Title: Disco Tube on a 1701P trigger group?
Post by: Rivers3Plinker on March 05, 2015, 09:04:42 AM
I'm throwing around a few ideas and it looks to me like the Disco tube assby bolts right on to a 13xx or Prod trigger group.
I think the difference is the 13xx sear is the same as the Disco trigger sear and you can use the Disco hammer weight and everything else.
The Prod would require a Prod weight or perhaps a filled Disco weight? Not sure on that one.

Since I have so much familiarity with the 13xx platform now I believe an easy way to join the dark side might be to buy the entire Disco tube assby from Crosman and build my own PCP with a 2289 skeleton stock and either of the above trigger groups. I would need barrel band and would probably go with aluminum.

Other thoughts are it's possible the Disco PCP parts are about as expensive as the entire gun but I won't know that until I put together my list call Crosman. No barrel, breech, stock, brake or anything else would be required so I have to imagine it's less than the whole gun.

I think I've seen pictures of this setup too but if anyone can confirm for me and throw me some ideas and advice, I would appreciate it.

A final note, I think since I have the wife situation at home it would be easier to order parts, build my own thing and just have a modified gun rather than ANOTHER airgun!? showing up at home. Some of you get it I'm sure.

Thanks!

;D  yes, it is much easier to get a few small boxes past the wife!

I have done that with a long tube Prod (2" shorter than disco), but have seen same on disco.  Just don't have the exact details you are looking for.

Ultimately I did not like that format.  It was too long and needed a stock.

Yeah well there you go - thanks for the info.

I love those laminate stocks. Nice setup BTW.
What you've built there is almost exactly what I want except I want that Boyds in woodlands camo.
Inletted from DiscosRus it's almost as much as a Disco itself though, and wife will notice that for sure.

Boyd's has a number of their stocks available for the disco now.  I haven't seen any installed pics yet, but they do have some nice options.

Using a BlueFork Design trigger on my Disco---fits on the 13XX too:

My 2260 build with a 13XX trigger---using the Disco internals:

Thanks Joe. Those are great examples of what I had in mind might look like and have helped me decide. I think I will acquire the parts to build my own over time and start with Disco tube assby and Disco trigger from Crosman and go from there. I really want a Boyds thumbhole and some furniture this time. Blue Flame is nice stuff. I have a few brakes from them. They make a great looking breech.

Steve,

Have you seen Boyds' offerings for Disco stocks?

the p-rod trigger will fit ok, but if the disco hammer is the same as a 2240. then it will need modified or replaced with a challenger/prod hammer/striker/acetal pin set-up. this is ajustable for throw and you can use the prod tube cap-but a hole will need drilled and tapped in it. this will allow spring tension and throw to be adjusted without disassembly.

note..when installing the prod trigger to the tube be sure to depress the trigger so it takes pressure off the sear till you get it screwed down.

peace

Did you say thumbhole?  :)   Here is the first pic I have seen:

Yes I have been looking at them quite a bit lately trying to figure out which one I like.
I like the Blaster that Discosrus inlets but it's $200.
Boyds has other stocks inletted and ready to go for $100 and of the two that appeal to me, the Evolution and the Barracuda look the most interesting. Starting a separate thread on this and a few other questions I have for the members.
