Title: Barrel band for 1377 or 1322
Post by: Moiecol on March 02, 2015, 03:25:26 PM
When I went with a longer barrel, I order two plastic barrel bands.  But I discovered when pumping the bars they  were hitting the barrel band. The barrel would get pushed up and the band getting deformed. So made it so it would just pass though.

i used to bang the plastic one pumping fast , but i learned to pump a little slower and i became accustom to the length of the throw when pumping so i got better at not over extending it like i used to . i've got a aluminum one now ...... . i do like the idea of the 22xx barrel band mod you've done to steady up the front end .

I actually made this one, I didn't think about that I sought the 22XX and 13XX were different. The cost of buying one was out of my budget then.

Why not just free float the barrel?

with a longer barrel it puts more torque on the little SS screw under the bolt if you bump the end of the barrel , simple leverage . and with it sticking so far out that is much more likely to happen . it can also be a little whippy so the barrel band helps keep the barrel more stable , makes it all more solid .
