I bought mine from Amazon, then I posted a review of this little gem on Amazon feedback. Today I received a question someone posted to me through Amazon feedback that I thought a little odd. He asked if my P-17 had a mark of a pentagon with an F in it. Well I looked and sure enough it does. Why would this be relevant? I assume it is just an identifying mark from the manufacturer. Or maybe my gun was shipped to me by mistake, it was supposed to go to an operative of the Illuminati! Or my pistol has Satanic origin? Maybe area 51?

LOL inre illuminati
Mine has the same mark on it.

I wondered about that, too. Turns out it isn't nearly as spooky as hoped...
It signifies that the gun is under a certain power level, and can be sold in places that restrict such things.
Area 51? That's funny, and I wish it was true...
;D

The "F" inside the pentagon indicates that it is "low power".
I believe it must put out less than 7.? joules.

I was told 5fpe.

I just checked a converter and you're close.
7.5 joules is about 5.5 foot pounds.

The "F-in-pentagon" is German, and does indeed indicate compliance with power restriction laws:

Airguns of extraterrestrial origin have similar markings, but the government won't let you see them unless you wear a tinfoil hat.

That, I can make.

Ah yes the AFDB, aluminum foil deflector beenie.

Well, I wasn't as close to going "outlaw" as I thought.
The best I ever got from a single stroke (ported and stuffed), was this:
14.3gr .22 CPHP, Marlin Micro Groove barrel. 4.8 FPE

Stalwart, I have seen how your projects evolve. The first beanie would be aluminum foil. The second would be aluminum sheet spun against a mold on a lathe. The third would be cut from billet aluminum, anodized red/white/blue, with a chin strap attached by QD sling swivels. It would probably also slice, dice, and make julienne fries.
Back to the "F-in-pentagon": It's ironic that the Chinese would clone a German design and then mark it so it can be sold in the original country.

LOL... you know me too well.
Guys, I didn't give the 17s a thought until I saw that Slavia was taking them seriously. If I hadn't seen a thread with his in it, I would still be missing out on a lot of fun.
That is ironic... I wonder if there are actually any 17s in Germany?
