A package arrived today from a US airgun parts supplier with a few goodies to mod a Crosman 2240. Only problem is that the new barrel I ordered is 24" long instead of the 12" I requested. I thought I should perhaps complain but then figured if I got it cut down it would give me 2 barrels. Any advice about this?

Yep, you can do that, the front half will have to have a new chamber and port, and the rear half recrowned.... Crosman barrels aren't choked....

Cliff do you know what barrel you ordered to get the 12 inch? I know you received the wrong one but I was wondering if the 2289 barrels from crosman now come in 14 or 12 inch? I also want a 12 for my 2240.

The 2289g bug out kit I got from DICKS in Oct 2013 has the 12" barrel. :D

Cool thanks, Ill order the 2289 barrel from crosman then. It wont matter if the barrel band dimple doesn't line up will it?

I got the 18" from a 2250xe and the band dimple didn't line up on my 2240 but it didn't matter.
