Title: T05 second screw question
Post by: Billy G on February 24, 2015, 09:42:52 PM
I have a xs28 with the second screw added to the trigger. I haven't been able to find a good exploded view of the trigger to understand the way the screws interact with each other. My question is pretty simple though,  once you hit the second stage (I'd assume this is when the rear screw makes contact) does the front (added) screw have any effect or does it only change the first stage?
Thanks for any help.

Having never had a TO5 trigger nor made the mod I can't answer your question.  I could discuss the theory of a two stage trigger but for specifics I have attached the breakdown of the TO5.  If you know where you put the second screw you may be able to see how it works.

Thank you.
From what it looks like to me the front screw would adjust the amount of sear overlap you start with. If you start with less overlap the overall length of pull in the trigger will be reduced.  So the front screw does change where the rear screw needs to be set to have the length of second stage you want. Once the rear screw contacts the sear the front screw is not doing anything, I am new to this and am just looking at the diagram so I could be wrong.  Mike told me he was going to set it as lite as he liked it and I could carefully adjust it a little more if I wanted.  Without being able to see how much overlap is left to start with and knowing his reputation for knowing what he is doing  I'm going to leave the front screw alone and just adjust the rear screw some to reduce the length of the second stage.
