Title: It was time for a new one!
Post by: Tpatner412 on February 23, 2015, 09:56:27 PM
Been a while since I've gotten a new gun, happened to come upon this older Air Arms S400 and couldn't pass it up.  Factory 12 FPE .177 with a gorgeous walnut stock.  Factory LDC as well.  Going to see how she does on paper tomorrow.

Title: More pics and groups

Got some time to shoot today and snap a few more pics.

Sighted the gun in at 25 yards and the groups were all one hole, phenomenal.  I had mounted the Optisan Viper 3-12x44 for testing.

Then stretched things out to 45 yards and the groups continued to impress (all with JSB 8.4 grain mind you). Thumb tack added for size comparison

And here are some more pics of the gun:

Good looking shooter there. I can't help but imagine the next time we see it, it has a cat toy dangling off the end of it.

Thanks Dez!

But while I will probably keep this around as a loaner at the FT club....I will probably not be dressing it out.  I've been in need of a new squirrel gun that doesn't weigh 16 lbs anyway LOL

This one is going to fit the bill nicely.  I forgot to mention as well... chrony spreads of only 8 fps over 20 shots make her just as attractive under the hood as she is on the outside ;)
The chrony tape would have been more extensive, but I'm thinking the gun will do upwards of 90 shots per fill, and I didn't feel like wasting all those pellets LOL

This from a man that works in a pellet warehouse. LOL.
Very cool gun Tyler.

With PCPs, you can dry fire 3 out of every 4 shots and still get an accurate shot string.  I've compared strings with pellets every shot and with pellets every 4th shot and they are indistinguishable.  Then you are only wasting air.  I agree shooting 100 pellets over the chrony with each shot string is not necessary.

This is true, but need to give those new guys a good reason to get hooked...best way to do that is to hand them a nice gun and say....enjoy :D

Make your way up to Northern Ohio this summer and come shoot with us, you're more than welcome to borrow her for a match!
