Title: Ranger 45 Came Today
Post by: shamu25 on February 11, 2015, 09:56:12 PM
Took awhile but she finally arrived.  Now very curious how she performs along side my Extreme 45.  Sure wish a bit of warm weather would come to MI so I can get some range time in.  Will post something sometime hopefully soon.

Ray,

How long of a wait did you have from the time your name went on their waiting list until your Ranger 45 arrived?  Very curious to know.

Thanks,

I waited well over 2 years but worth the wait.  I enjoy the challenge of just waiting and wondering if it will ever get here.  But Dan promises that if you are on the list you "will" get your gun.  He is a great guy and keeps his promises.  BTW.....the 2 hours waiting for the UPS truck yesterday afternoon seemed longer than the entire 2+ years wait for the gun.

Thanks Ray,

Wow, two years . . . I may not be on this earth in two years!  Were you told where you were on the list, or do you just have to wonder where you are on his list and how long of a wait?  How about some close up photos of the Ranger 45.  What kind dof a wait did you have to endure for the Extreme?  My gosh two years!  . . . two years!  . . .

I was confirmed on the Ranger list in Feb of '12.  I found out that the wait may be quite long so I made a trip to Mayville MI in Dec of that year and came home the same day with a new Extreme 457.  With a gun  of that quality and power I could wait a long long time for a Ranger so I just hunkered down and enjoyed shooting the Extreme.  I think the Extreme wait is not too long at present.
One thing about both guns.  The fit and finish and power is amazing with either one.

That rifle looks beautiful.  I've been on the waiting list since Jan 27th 2014.  I might change my mind and get the .58, I'm still undecided.  I can't wait to get the email though.   ;D

Why is the ranger more desirable than the extreme line up?

Having owned both I would say that the Ranger compared to the Extreme is a toss up.   I am still new to the Ranger so still discovering what this gun is truly about.   Ranger is likely a bit more powerful but who needs more that 5 to 600fpe anyway?  Extreme is a much shorter wait.  Ranger can be adjusted between high and low power  by the cocking leaver position but to medium power by removing the stock and repositioning a set screw.  To adjust the Extreme's power you have to install a power adjuster or change hammer springs.  Not sure what adding a power adjuster will do to your warranty.   Both are amazing as to fit and finish and looks.  Both take a wide variety of bullet shapes and weights.  Both have TJ's barrels.  The Extreme has a Timney trigger.  Both love to use up air.  Ranger is .452 and has tons of bullet choices.  Extreme is .457 and is a bit more limited in bullet choice.  Others out there may have more thoughts on this comparison.
