Title: NASCAR
Post by: Iron on February 06, 2011, 08:28:54 PM
How many of you follow it?

I used to watch religiously been to Michigan, and Lowes  Motor Speedway. I grew up a E.Sr fan Hence my knickname and screen name (someone way back when refered to SR as Ole Iron head) I loved watching E jR in the beginning, he sure has struggled. I cant stand Jimmy J or Kyle B.

I havent watched the last couple of  years, but for some reason I kinda got the itch to watch some...So The Daytona will be on my TV this year, who is up and coming ?  someone who will re kindle my love for the sport?

Who's your favorite?

Jason

p.s. Danica Patrick is bar far the best looking of the bunch ;D   and She's a Bear fan to boot ;)

I'm a huge fan, plumb back to the Fred Lorenzen days. The Holman/Moody shop was only an hour away. Went to the Hickory Speedway every Saturday night and drove the wrecker and picked up wrecks at the ripe age of 17. Bil Elliot, Kassey Khane, Davey Allison were and are the ones I like. Kyle Busch may not be your cup of tea but he gives it his all and I hope he wins them all just to here everybody whine. Not a Hendrick or Childres, or Earnhart fan, period!

Used to watch it all the time, but the car of tomorrow or whatever they call it really turned me off, as well as toyota getting into it.  Bill Elliot, Dale Jarrett, Mark Martin, Davey Allison, and Alan Kulwicki are/were some of my fave's.  Not a RCR fan and never had much use for the Earnhart clan either, and forget about Kyle Busch although his brother is a pretty good guy.

Rolex GT Series, F1, MotoGP,  I can't stand that circle stuff!! The guys are real talented that drive Nascar but IMHO there jneeds to be a lot more road courses.

Ya, been watching NASCAR for years. I had a friend that had a satelite dish. He would record the races and give them to me back before the races were all on TV.

Gotta go with Mark Martin.......sure would like to see him win the championship.
I also like JR., and Carl Edwards.

Very glad for the Wood brothers. They deserve it!! Oh the history with the #21.

Trevor Bane from Knoxville, TN :)  His first win!

Michael Waltrip took out most of the really good drivers and other wrecks took out even more.  The real season begins next week at Phoenix.

Yes it was great to see the Wood brothers get
the 21 car into victory lane. It was no accident for sure.
Heard some folks saying "Most of the good cars
had been wrecked" Trevor still beat a heck of a lot of
good cars to the line.

I remember Kurt Busch saying in victory lane once,
(maybe Phoenix?) "If you think I am good, wait until
my brother gets here"

Well folks he is here and I have been a fan of his since
he got here. I too hope he goes on and does a bunch
of winning just to hear the folks cry. Never cared for
his brother Kurt, or the guy he replaced in the blue deuce.
(wish they would get him out of the booth, find someone
else to do commentary)

When Mark Martin first hooked up with Jack Roush,
I bet a coworker fifty dollars that he would win the championship
in two years, man,, I sure hated to pay that 50 bucks.

I like to see several of the drivers win, Stewart, Harvick,
Bowyer, Martin and of course Kyle Busch.
Watched Jeff Gordon race sprint cars here in central
Indiana back when he was 16 years old. (before his family
moved here) He was fearless then too.

Was a big Carl Edwards fan until he dumped Brad K.
multiple times. Would not step across the street to
meet him now.

Never was a big Earnhardt fan Sr. or Jr. like them both
though, think they are good people. Sure don't understand
all the hype for Jr. though.

Some of my favorites were Sterlin Marlin, Neil Bonnett, (who
had a great outdoors program back in the day), and Ward Burton.
Cant leave out the Labonte brothers either.

I remember a week or so after Jimmy Spencer hit Kurt Busch
up side the head, Kurt got into Sterlin Marlin and put him,
and a couple others into the wall. As Sterlin was coming out
of the care center, the reporter asked him, "What do you think
is going on with Kurt?"  Sterlin replied,"I don't know, I recun Jimmy
just didn't hit him hard enough." Always liked his country wit.

Met and had a chance to sit and talk to Junior Johnson several years ago,
that was a pleasure, for such a big man, he is one of the kindest
you will ever meet.

I have seen a lot of changes in the sport, not all good ones either.
But I still love it. Have been enjoying the truck and nationwide
races the last few years. Those races are shorter and they drive
with more of a sense of urgency than you see in the cup races
the last few years. Seems like if you see the last 50 laps or so
of a cup race now, you have pretty much seen the best of it.

Folks talk about Danica mania, if she would go to nationwide
full time, I believe she could do very well.

Peanut M&M's for Everyone!!!

Glad to see Wood Brothers back in victory lane, it's about time.  21 car always will have a special place in my heart, no matter who's driving it.   I really liked Trevor Bayne, he seemed pretty grounded and easy going.  As for Kyle Busch, he seems to have settled down, but in years past he was pretty whiny, kind of reminded me of a young Geoff Bodine.   I don't really have a favorite full time driver anymore, all of mine have moved on and either retired or are running partial schedules now.

I was happy  about the outcome yesterday  The Wood  brothers, that color scheme, that number, and sponsor all brought back memories...The Kid seemed real cool as well. im a Jr. fan, a dissapointed one for the last few years it sure doesnt seem he has the talent his daddy did. and i two dont understand his following, but oh well.

It was nice to see the Labonte brothers racing, and i do like the group of racers that  raced when i was growing up much better.

I live 8 miles from Road  America in Elkhart Lake, Wi its nice the busch series is coming back...( i know its not busch anymore but thats what i still refer to it as ) a &^^& load of people here for that, well actually RA  is pretty full all summer.

I really was pulling for Mark Martin to finally win that reace, but that kid  was the next best for me..

The company I am employed with is sending a few of us machinest to Joe Gibbs race shop tomorrow. They are a show case for a program called 5S which we will be applying in our shop.
Just wondering if anyone has a message I can deliver for you to Kyle while I am there ;D

All the things we do 'religiously'.  Does anybody love God with the same zeal we give to sports?
