My Jack Haley tube was 2500 fill per Jack seems to be the common type of steel tubing. Be careful of Wolf do some research and decide if you want to try them I have read bad and good on them
-
Unfortunately QB tubes are only 3000PSI and also without air pressure regulator :'(.

Suggest you check with Don Cothran...might be able to help.

Except this:
"At first sight, the Beeman Chief appears to be “just a PCP version of the QB78” air rifle. That’s what I thought, at least. However, close inspection indicates that there are actually many differences from the CO2-powered Beeman QB78, making the Chief quite a different gun.
Yes, there are some similarities between the two models. The trigger assembly and barrel of the Beeman Chief appear to be the same as those of the Beeman QB78. But - beyond that - almost everything else is different. "
A gentle reminder- just posting a link without any explanation doesn't help.
-
The Beeman is still 2,000psi and the OP was 3,000psi.
Don is great to speak with and makes great stuff. Mountain has been my go to, the 3,000psi tube is "blued" and cut to the specs, including additional valve securing plus the screws. Ive heard nothing but good things about Don Cothran. My dealings with Roy have been exceptional, including the custom barrel work, recommendations, experience, etc. The biggest limitation I see is the tube length, 19in. Ive got the hipac with extensions as well, but 2000psi.

Considering we know by the reviews/pictures published so far, the 78S breech is about 1/2"shorter than a 78, then the holes just ain't going to line up. Can also see that the stock retention screw isn't in the same place...and there is a gauge and gauge opening though the stock. Also suspect (although it's not been shown in published photos, the valve may well be different....even if it is the same, will need to drill/tap three holes for the valve fixation screws.
So a QB 78S tube isn't going to be a bolt on repacement for a co2 78. It could work if you have the machining skills, but if you had those skills, you'd lkikely make it a #k fill rifle rather than a 2K fill rifle.
But I will buy one......I like the small volume/low pressure concept....and maybe I'll find a "perfect" home for a 5mm QB made barrel.
-
my post was to suggest getting the chief and upgrading the retention bolts to run 3000 , not to retrofit. Lot less work , didnt have time to type this earlier
-
Other than some screws, not sure the 2000psi limit would qualify increased pressure filling. Just a concern, maybe its been established the tube etc can withstand.

There were long 3K rated tubes in the past...maybe there will be again (and maybe the 2K rated 78S could stimulate that progression). I REALLY don't think it's needed in launching .177 or .22 pellets, but it comes in handy in launching .25 and above cal. pellets.

Completely agree, amd you know more than most ;) Just referring back to original post and the implication of 3000psi, for whatever reason(s). Actually shot one of mine today, 2000psi 33gr JSB just over 700fps. Lots to work with in .177 and .22 for the most part.......and always dumbfounded by the accuracy of these.

Looks like Wolf Airguns is better deal than this mountain air tubes. The only question is what is the wait time on shipping from EU.
-
"Deal" may be relative :-) Ive heard issues with Wolf but others having great experience in product and shipping. For me, Im not a machinist by any means, so interaction with Mountain invaluable.
-
Will have to check with the various web-sites, but have some bad "ju-ju" posts about Wolf...but that's just gossip at this point, at least until I hear from a poster I know and trust.
-
reply to my email couple days ago... would have been good thing.
Hello,
the manufacturing of conversion kits is terminated.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Kind regards
