Buy a 78, then cut the threaded end off. Drill the end to accept a 79 drop block. You get much better consistency because of the larger pre-chamber. You may need to trim the end of the stock a bit to fit.

If you haven't already, send an email to Mike M at Flying Dragon
His sight said he was out of the QB78 Deluxe, but he did have one. It was cheaper then the "other guy" too. If not keep and eye out on Gunbroker.

Here is what I did with my 78.

You also just could buy the tank block adapter and add it to a 78.  I think some used one from Jds airman.  There is an old thread in the darkside gate done by Ribbonstone on how to install it.  Stock may need some hole drilled to secure the adapter.  There was some one who added it to a XS60C also.   JMO

Do you actually have one of the Wolf kits, or are you thinking of putting in an order? If the latter is true, it might be a good idea to do a Google search for reviews before moving ahead.

Archer had a post on the chinese a/g forum saying he just got 78's in. I just ordered a 79 from his site. It put it in my cart then I deleted it.  Don't need one.

Even though Mike's site says "Not available" I would call or email him. I picked up my QB at Christmas from him. Even though his listed price is more, it actually winds up being less as he has the shipping cost included. Plus I would rather support a vender who supports the GTA

Mike had none of the qb79s . But mentioned i could bulk fill the tube on a xs60 pcp with co2 .
Has anyone done this yet ?  If so how did it go ? Also mentiond the b50 with a different cap on the tube .

Nobody has any thoughts on filling a pcp gun with co2 .
I can't be the first one to consider doing this .
I am not worried about lower fps as this is just for target on paper .
The qb79 has low fps also .
Well i will be ordering something by tomorrow .
So any input would be appreciated .
By the way pcp from mike vs qb from steeve .

Not sure, are you asking a question? If so should, plenty of thoughts, Crosman even markets the Disco and MRod as "Dual Fuel" guns. Plenty of guys "bulk fill" Qb's and 22XX guns with CO2.

I am asking for opinions .
More about bulk filling with co2 on the fdpcp and b50 .
Vs running a qb79 on a co2 tank .
Price is about the same for all three right now .
Would the pcp guns run about the same fps on co2 as the qb79 .
Thats what I'm looking for . And and was wondering about shot count with co2 in a pcp .
Also reliability .
Thanks for any help given  .
I plan to order something by tomorrow .
Original plan was a qb79 last week untill mike m. Mentioned the fdpcp and b50 on co2  something i had not concidered .
I'm not after high fps i has other guns for that . Just a accurate fun easy plinker . Mostly for my wife .and if i like it enough one for me to .

Well the B50's are all gone so cross that one off the list.
As far as CO2 goes, on the same gun, CO2 will shoot about the same velocity as running a bottle at about 750-800psi. A gun running on "bulk" CO2 will shoot the same as one that is "bottle fed" CO2.
As far as shot count goes I'm pretty sure a FDPCP on CO2 should get more shots then when filled with HPA, but the velocity will be lower.

If it were me, and I was planning on running a CO2 gun it would be the QB79 over the FDPCP just for the ease of filling. To me it would be easier to just change the bottle out and get it filled at store vs bulk filling equipment

Thanks for your help .
I do have my own co2 fill station .
Thats why co2 is more atractive for me .
Figured the pcp on co2 would be less front heavy for my wife than a qb with a bottle out front .
But i think that I'll just order the qb with a 9oz tank and drop adaptor , then order a 4oz if its too front heavy .
Again thanks for the help ...

Phil......get a refurb Disco. It's ready to fill with CO2. I bulk fill three guns on CO2 and the Disco is shooting a 14.9 gr. pellet at 635 FPS at 78degrees F. That's all the power I need. I've dispatched squirrels to 35 yards and Starling even further. It's as accurate as any gun I've shot except my Savage .17 HMR. Good luck.

archer got everything you said you want. He's got one 79 you can order three or four different bottles. Some take one or two 12gr powerlets or what ever they're called.

I'd be waiting impatiently for the brown truck except that the "Beeman" QB79 is only available in .177.

I hope to have them some time this week .
It should be fun to compare them to each other .
I got the fdpcp with the lower fps valve for increased shot count .
I know backwards of what everyone else is doing .
I have a feeling that the wife is going to prefer the fdpcp , we shall see .
I may get another standard setup fdpcp for me if i like it enough .
But i figured that this was the only way to compare them was to get each .
I thank every one for there input .

The qb79 came today .
Only had time for 50-60 shots with my wife and son .
Close range in basement , 10 yds .
Didn't shoot any groups just plinking , passing it around .
My focus was more on getting some rounds threw  it .
First impressions are pretty good for out of the box .
Trigger was nice , finish is good , accurate ,  not too loud at all and no recoil .
Only complaint so far iis the bolt is rough getting around the bend .
Wife liked it alot , the short stock helped for her .
She was plinking pennies off the target at will open sight .
Can't wait to get some more distance to test accuracy .
Hopefully monday the fdpcp will show up to compare .

I should have my fdpcp in about 12 more hours .
I hope he doesn't sell out before i get to test mine .
If i like it i would like to get another one but on the sale price , ordered mine the day before the sale .
Are there any stock .22 barrels for the gen 1.5 any where at a reasonable cost ?
Title: Re: qb79
Post by: fishcrf450r on March 06, 2015, 12:17:30 PM
So i got my fdpcp on monday .
I ordered the low power setup for more shot count .
Box said 650 fps at 1500 psi .
But i run it on co2 so i figure it ran about half that at over 100 shots per fill .
Not quite enough omph would dent a metal coffee can but not penetrate it .
I played with the hammer spring adjuster and moved the trigger .
Still not enough .
So before messing with the internals i called mike to see what was different for low powwer tune .
He was very helpfull , and took the time to help me no problem .
Thank you mike , you earned a repeat customer .
So low power setup was smaller exhaust port on valve .
1mm vs 3mm .
Just had to open up the port to gain power .
So i oppened it up .5mm at a time untill i got what i wanted .
2 mm was pretty good but i went all the way to 3.7mm .
Wow .
I now get 35 awesome shots and 20 more good shots before poi starts to drop .
Oh and it's been very accurate at all times at each power setup .
Very happy . And for only $100
Oh and soooooooo easy to work on , almost ridiculous .
I've had it apart six times and no bad orings yet .
The trigger was nice right out of the box . Havent worked on it yet at all .
Thanks again mike  m.
