Here is one area you can go cheap. As long as it holds the weight, you are set. I use an old tripod I had on hand. (I've done some photography, so I usually have two or three hanging around)

I had got a camera tri-pod from a thrift store.  Yeah I know I'm cheap.  But I can't be the only one that's why they have swap meets. Right :)

Thrift stores, pawn shops, or the discount stores for a new one. Almost anything made for a camera will be OK.

Got mine from Wal-Mart and what I like is there is a base that would mount to a camera. But it mound on the bottom of the Chrony. I did have to drill one 1/4 hole, but now the Chrony just latches onto the Tripod.

Bought my first one at a yard sale, the next one at a thrift shop, and my most recent one on Amazon.  If you buy one used, it's tough to find the adapter that screws into the bottom of the crony. If you ever find those Used, Snatch them up. I Think they are universal.

The screws are a standard 1/4" bolt. Not fine thread. Drill a hole in your shooting table and run a 1/4" bolt up thru it and attach chrony. It works.
