Title: Out of the ordinary or all parts made/modded by yourself Favorite custom builds
Post by: stonykill on January 24, 2015, 08:11:29 AM
I know favorites change with every new Ag build. I am starting this thread to showcase builds from our readers who mod or make their own parts. Not a thread for $300 13xx's built with all off the shelf parts already modded by someone else. But for AG's readers adapted, made, improved parts on to improve power, comfort etc on their own.

This is my current favorite. I'll just highlight the mods, you can find the build in the Daisy gate.

This started life as a stock all plastic 880. I filled the notch in the piston, with Daisy that gives you an instant flat top. Modded the hammer, stiffened the hammer spring, basic power mods. Filled the stock with silicone. Absolute best simple mod to do to an 880 to make it "feel" right. Then I modded the valve body to accept a .22 pellet after removing the stock barrel. Then on a wood lathe with a file I modded a 12 inch Crosman barrel to fit the Daisy valve body assm. Cut down the shroud. Shimmed the oring on the bolt for a better seal. No chrony here yet, but based on Davids's mods, results etc a few of us feel I am in the 630 to 650 fps range. At 12 pumps. I'll confirm at some point. Just a few pics.

So lets see what you guys have! I know at least a few of us do the "out of the ordinary" build. So lets see em!

At this time there are ALL of my Daisy's that have custom home made power mods.    Filled piston slot, shimmed hammer, stronger Hammer/Trigger spring, slightly bored transfer port, wrapped piston.

And one that i am playing with a reduced volume valve using a shim, another playing with an increased volume valve, by careful boring of the air chamber.

I am doing a .22 cal Daisy 880 with an 17 inch barrel.

Sorry about the lack of pictures.

I think that covers my current ones in the Out of the Ordinary Favorite Custom Self Builds category.   Next up will be the modifications to my 140.

full details yet to come..... here's everything but the end cap. this is a quick maneuvering little can killer for those feral cans out in the woods around the lake. i call it the 880-SSC.

thanks Joe! Tweed, lookin good! That right there  is a perfect chipper/rat killer!

Just to be clear, if you modded a springer and made your own guides and tophat, maybe shortened the barrel lets see it! If you modded a PCP and made or modified oddball parts, lets see it! Pumpers, as long as you modded your own parts, adapted parts and made parts, lets see em! Creativity of our group is the key to this thread.  :D

Ok then my 2289 (pre flat top, I have now made a flat top piston though no pics of that).

Did all work myself.   Bored TP, thinned valve stem, made trigger spring guide and top, stuffed piston, shaped valve face, shimmed piston cup, pinned check, poly-tube Transfer port, solid pivot pin with O-Rings to hold, etc.

Some pics attached.

Nice David! Yup, this is the kind of stuff I am talking about. I will come up with a better title to suit the "flavor" of the thread direction I envisioned.

Waiting on Kirby and Bart to find the thread  ;)

Are you sure you want me to make you jealous?  ;D ;D :P
My very first build is my custom .22 pumper, everything except the grip frame/trigger unit and barrel are my creation.
It started life with a T-handle breech and a homemade peep.

Then it got scope grooves, and a cheap Tasco.

It still wears the Tasco, but it now has a new sidelever breech.

 Stuart, that is a Daisy/Winchester 77xs stock.

Bart, ABSOLUTELY want you here to make me jealous! I only wish I had the tooling and time to build something like that! Simply amazing the talent on this forum. Nice to showcase some of it in one place.

My  humble projects

bottom is the 1322MLT  it uses a 66 pump tube shortened at the breech end use a 13xx valve 4.2" stroke instead of 3.5"...

then is the current state of the 1325XLT 2100/13xx cross with a custom extended nose (.3") valve ~.12ci

It has been a steel breech .25 and .22;  that is a mk177 16" barrel that is in it now, I need to do a leade port cone and chamber but it should be about 800-850 fps with 7.9s. at 17 pumps,   the barrels above it are a 14" .22 (just barely longer than the end of the pump tube... and a 19" .25 np725 barrel with the plastic parts for the shroud (3/4 elec conduit fits for the shroud tube)...

Top is MK1322 at 20.6 fpe right now... MK177/2240/13xx cross  .242 ci valve.

the barrel above it is a Daisy 20.8" 953 1:15 twist with ten grooves and lands  It will be going on the MK1377 that will be built  when the rest of the parts get here...

I think it will hit ~950 fps with 7.9g pellets

Froggy, love it. Jim real nice work.

Kirby, I had your builds in mind when I started this thread.

Interesting thread so far. Simple home brews to incredible hand crafted ag's . Good stuff.
