Title: P-rod chrony ,part2 must see
Post by: Paul in MD. on February 05, 2011, 07:49:18 PM
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D My wife went too bingo all day and left me alone all day with my p-rod. I changed hammer spring but got less FPS than before i started,so then i went to hardware store and picked up some real small washers that would fit the spring guide, well it shot better but nothing to get excited about ,so then i tore down gun and drilled port, that was all it took.I,m one excited p-rod owner now and it is all sighted in. ;D ;D

Wow, I thought those P-rods ran at about 13~14 fpe. But 21 is pretty amazing

After all day of shooting and pumping and pistol teardowns,my chrony printer jammed on last string with the Kodiaks and i ran out of Predators,so i could not test them ,but they will probaly be around 730 FPS and 19 FPE ;D

Paul what size did you enlarge your port to? I read of one going to 7/64 but I don't think he was getting as high of FPS as you have. Second question if ya don't mind is what size an type of washer did you use on your spring guide(just trying to get ahead of the curve) as my guess is the extra spring tension is what really gave the most increase for you. Thank's for sharing with us.
A P-rod doing over 21 FPE for 16 shot's, now that is a air pistol in anyone's book!

Jay, The original size of port is 5/64,i drilled to 3/32 ,then i honed with diamond bit that i use for woodcarving,so final size is about 7/64 max any more would probaly be ,a ruined port :'(. The washers are just standard hardware items ,i tried to find copper or brass but there were none to be found ,i will get some from work and replace them. I just took air tube cap with me and found some that fit perfect with no play, actually i bought 5 and used 3 because any more than 3 it would not cock.

And remember these 3 words,,,FTS 14.66, Kodiak 21 and Predator 16

That is some impressive increase in your gun Paul an the PSI used is not bad at all, 750 psi for two mag's full, that is a day of hunting for sure.
An what you said is right on point .Just think what they will do when the "Pro Tuner's" get started, I'd guess we will see 25+ FPE P-rod's in a few month's.
  HEY MR.GENE, WANT TO WORK ON A P-ROD ;) ;D 8)!!!

I,m real happy with the p-rod right now,3 mags for hunting squirrel and wabbit at these numbers with Kodiaks, any more speed ,i would have to work with baffles, right now with Kodiaks its still quiet enough for my hunting.

I just noticed that on the Kodiak string ,shot # 9 was very low, maybe a bad pellet skirt or something, that would have made my spread off,and average would have been better. ???
