looking to make a shorty 880 or a 1389++...... wondering how much power i will loose....

do a few basic power mods and I bet you lose next to nothing. I am thrilled with my shorty 880 .22 . David figures with the mods I did I am at 630 to 650 FPS with the 12 inch .22 barrel. These Daisys take to mods better than crosman, easier, and on the dirt cheap! ;)

Assuming all else equal you can figure that in .177 for every inch of barrel lost you likely loose 10FPS to 11FPS at full power with 7.9 grain pellets. So loping off 5 inches would lose you up to 55FPS. Thus if it was shooting at 700FPS with 7.9 grain pellets (pretty standard power) it could be as low as 645FPS with the 5 inch shorter barrel.

There this video on you tube where a guy took a 24" crosman 2260 barrel and chopped an inch at a time and chronied it after each cut. You could try that with your 880, and see what happens per inch.
