Ive been doing a bit of reading here from time to time and I am starting to get interested in some of the Hatsan line. The model 95 in .177 is what I think I may be leaning towards for the simple reason that I don't need the magnum power that all the models up from it seem to be. I am aware that they need some attention to bring the best out of them and I am OK with that. For now I have a few questions.
Are wear parts readily available...piston seal, spring, breech seal, barrel pivot washers? Unless the breech seal is some weird size I assume it can be found at a good hardware store?
Barrel pivot washers...are they plastic or steel?
How does the quattro trigger compare to the t-06? Can it be set as light as the t-06?
Since most of my shooting is target how would the accuracy compare to the rws 34? or is it more of a hunter than target rifle?
Thanx guys!

Hey 1216bandit,
I love my 95 in .177, best shooting springer I have --->> I only shoot target ;)

1) Almost all wear parts are available through Hatsan-USA, though it may take awhile to get them. Timing is hit & miss. So far, I haven't been denied anything requested. If the gun has factory defects, everything is free within reason - on 1 year warranty. Go to the Hatsan-USA webpage, look on the bottom of page (parts) can request additional parts by filling out on-line Service form.
2) Barrel pivot washers are steel.
3) Quattro trigger can be made excellent, kinda rough out-of-the-box. Never used T-06............
4) Never shot the RWS 34, but I think the 95 can be as good. You will have to learn to deal with a little more recoil.
5) A good tune is recommended.

Dan,
While I can't answer most of your questions, I can tell you that my 95 vortex in .177 is an absolute beast. It's very easy to cock for the power that you're getting (especially compared to a 135) and it's very accurate. It can be a bit on the heavy side when shooting off-hand, though.
The trigger is a little stiff for me with quite a bit of creep in the 2nd stage, even after adjusting, but it's a *(&^ of a lot better than, say, a Gamo. I've never shot a gun with a T-06.

I know they dont advertise kits available for the 95 but has anyone bought springs and seals from vortek or ARH?
-
Yeah,
I bought piston seals from AGH - James Mccari, they are nice. Bought the (3) pack of lube too, Clear, Heavy tar & Molly.
If your gonna do the tune yourself, read the many articles by CDT in the GTA library.

My Hatsan 95 .177 was a nightmare. I've owned several RWS 34 TO6, no comparison, not even close. Do yourself a favor, get the 34. When I bought the 95, I contacted both of the tuners I do business with, neither one would touch a Hatsan......advised me to steer clear of them. The reason both of them gave was no parts, no support, no service. Unless you are a tuner and want to work on something right out of the box, don't. just my honest 2 cents

I' going to respect the fact that is your "honest 2cents." That's about as much credit as your going get. There have many members on this board and others that have had great service dealing with Hatsan, I included have had great service dealing with them. Your "tuners" I have a feeling have not tried to get parts or support because there have also been people on here who have been able to get the support they need and the parts they want for their rifles. Even though I will go ahead and say that they wont ship barrel or trigger parts, that's because they have said there is the liability of doing that so if you need those parts you have to send it to them and then they will install it for you. Hey if the factory wants to install something to make sure its done right more power to them! "Your entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts"

Also see no point in comparing a 34 to a 95. 14 fpe vs 20 fpe. Better to compare it to a gun with same power, otherwise itīs pretty pointless to even do a comparison.
And the accuracy of them are pretty much identical, seeing reviews and tube vids.

The rws 34 comparison I was interested in was mostly the trigger, as I have 2 with the t-06 and they are very nice. I have only read about the Hatsan rifles and thought perhaps someone who has owned both could give me an idea of how they stack up.
Both Diana's shot beautifully out of the box where again I have only read where the 95 can be a bit rough around the edges and the quattro trigger can be a bit challenging to set up for a light pull, and that is not a deal breaker.
As far as accuracy goes..I realize the 95 is a heavy hitter and that is a big part of my interest, but I am wondering what kind of groups can one expect at 20 or 30 yards with the right pellets?

Hey 1216bandit,
My advise is: NOT to buy the Hatsan 95 unless you are willing to tune the gun yourself. I'm betting my tuned Hatsan 95 is smother than a RWS D34 out of the box. I'm betting too, that a RWS D34 is going to feel/shoot better out-of-the-box, because you have already paid to have much of the tune difference done at the factory.
The barrels in question do not change with a tune, the gun just becomes more accurate because everything is working in harmony and the trigger is spot on.
I think the accuracy of the guns is very similar, but they are two different animals based on how they are finished. Because the Hatsan comes with a Walnut stock (which I wanted to streamline/refinish) the choice was a no brain-er -> $300 vs. $150 (can be had for much less). I know me and I would be beeching if I got a gun with a BEECH stock.

Thanx for the replies..not a problem working on the gun myself. Work is going to have me living out of a suitcase for a bit, but once things get back to normal I will pick one up. There have been some pretty thorough maintenance videos posted the last few days on the 95, 125 and 135 in case anyone is interested. Here is a link to one of them..others posted by the same guy.
