Title: spring cleaning in January
Post by: Booger on January 15, 2015, 09:18:50 PM
Friday I have to go to the VA hospital, when I return it should be a cool 61*. I think I will clean all my spring piston guns, and shoot until sunset. On Saturday it will be a frigid 66* and I think that will be a great time to chrony all my rifles with their favorite pellets and finish on Sunday where the weather takes a major dip to about 63*. This way I can see how some of my rifles have broken in and others how they have fared since the last time I checked them. I just need to get my winter clothes ready tonight for all the hard work I plan for the next few days.

::) Well up here in the sunny north eastern portion of the country tonight is a balmy 18 degrees I think tomorrow I will break out the bathing suit and sun glasses and do some plinking in the backyard "NOT" :P :P :P :P :P

Gotta say the last 2-3 weeks in Texas has been wet and cold with very little sunshine. We got down to around 15 one night last week I think. I been really feeling for you guys up north if you gotta go through months of this and worse. Next 3 days at least are gonna be sweet for shooting.

Some days we are ecstatic if 15 is the daytime high.

I have a nice, warm, indoor, heated 50 yard range less than a mile from my driveway  ;D.........only drawback is it's less than 100 yards from the busiest set of railroad tracks in the world. Every 15-20 minutes, 24-7, 365 there's a train going by. All the vibration makes for tough shooting' with a scope with the "shakes".

Yup, in upstate NY it has been below zero F many nights and in the teens and sometimes windy during the day as well. I still grab a pumper and do a little shooting daily.

5 guns cleaned, 2 were filthy. Got them all back to zero, one was busting the speed of sound for atleast 10 shots. Everything is under control in the cleaning department, now I need to make the decision of how many shots to chrony over each rifle. PCPs I like to do 40-60, springers are a different story. If I do not know the favorite pellet I usually shoot 10 of each, but these rifles I do know their favorite pellet and most of them have a very close 2nd favorite.

I will be shooting their favorite pellet, and would like suggestions of what you my fellow addicts would like to see. Testing will begin somewhere between 10am and noon. :)

I'd like to do the same as Jesse and clean and rezero my rifles.  I'd love to shoot them all.  And I suppose I could -- if I was really determined.  But I think I wait until it's a little warmer.  Right now this morning its minus 21 Celsius (-6 Farenheit).  Spring can't get to Northern Ontario soon enough.

;) She knows I want to take one last road trip before I hang up my helmet , so I figure not to difficult to work out . Besides I want to get a Jeep Wrangler rag top to replace the Harley so I can still be sort of be in the wind  ;D ;D ;D Over the last couple of years I've lost a half step or so the reflexes aren't as cat like as they used to be :o ::) :D

LOL, that might be the EXACT answer he wants to hear ..... ya never know.   ;D :o  Have a freeing in Billings, MT ... every year, he takes a road trip on his Harley .... for 30 days .... by himself, with his wife's blessing.  I always envied that.  My wife wouldn't really have an issue with that, but it would cost me dearly ..... she would probably want to take a 30 day cruise, to be even.

My son just bought a Sebring rag top, after I loaned him $1100 to fix it, he asked me if I wanted to buy it for what he paid. So now I can sell my Harley and still get bugs in my teeth. :)

I don't shoot much in the winter, even though I have a few guns that will handle the cold. The weak link is me! I don't handle the cold so well. Right now it is a whopping 11 degrees out and this boy is staying inside! My basement range is no more, so my shooting is pretty well done until spring. No problem. I have other things to occupy my time.
