Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know the average muzzle velocity for a full-tuned Xisico Model XS28M from FlyingDragon in .25 or .22 using lead pellets? Also how accurate is this rifle out to 50+ yards?
Thanks for your help.

I just bought the Ruger Air Magnum and in a few days I will have it back together with a new seal and should be able to get you some close numbers.
-
my xs28 from MM is doing about 900fps with 14.3. my buddy has the same gun and its a little smoother and doing 800 fps with same pellet. never done any real target shooting with mine but he can hit a 1" target at 50 yards off hand with open sights about 1/3 the time.

Thanks for the information! You guys are very helpful.

My shooting buddy has the full tuned Flying Dragon XS-28 in .25, shooting at around 780. He uses it stricktly as his hunter so it is sighted in with Polymags. It is very accurate with those, he has no problem hitting teaspoon spinners at 35 yards off hand. Definately the full tune is the way to go on one of these "thumpers"
-
Yes, full tune. Mine is in the ballpark of 700 feet per second with 25.4 grains, and 1" spinners are a given at 33 yards

Thanks for the information... I'm very tempted to order (in a couple of months) a fully-tuned XS28M from Mike @ FD. I've heard nothing but good things about their rifles, tunes, and customer service.
-
Pretty much the best bang for the buck when it comes to affordable air rifles. His stuff can hang with a lot of the high dollar models out there.
-
I forgot to mention that I'm thinking of getting the .25 since I already I already have a .177 and a .22 magnum springgers.
-
I just bought a b28 .177 tuned it myself and it is amazing. i love the sound it makes, Kerrrrthunk!
-
Congrats for your new b28. Have fun with it. A FD full tune 28 is still on my short to-buy list. I'm debating on whether to buy it before a powder burner that I have my eyes on or after it.
I read that Mike's tuned rifles come with a lifetime warranty and I really like that. It's even a transferable warranty.

I have a question about the rail on the XS28M. I know it has a dovetail rail so what do you guys do to prevent the scope from sliding (scope creep)? Will the vertical stop pin on this mount https://www.pyramydair.com/product/leapers-accushot-1-pc-mount-w-1-rings-3-8-dovetail?a=805 (https://www.pyramydair.com/product/leapers-accushot-1-pc-mount-w-1-rings-3-8-dovetail?a=805) or something similar fit into any pre-drilled hole on the gun?
Thank you for your help.

The one piece Leapers/UTG mount, with screws properly torqued with loctite and the stop pin properly adjusted for the hole with loctite, will hold up to the recoil of anything you can throw at it. Just remove the screws and clean the and the screw holes with denatured alcohol before installation, and make sure that your scope tube is clean. Maybe wipe it down with some alcohol and let it dry as well, just to be sure. Also be careful not to drip any loctite onto the rings or scope tube themselves- only a tiny touch to the screws themselves. For the stop pin, I screw it almost all the way out through the bottom of the ring, and just touch it with the tip of the bottle. Enough to keep it from walking out, not enough to bleed out into the ring. These are steps you'll have to take with ANY scope rings you use on a magnum springer if you want your scope to stay put long enough to shoot a single tin of pellets without re-zeroing it...

Back in July I did my own full tune of my XS-28 in .177. Using a low end Leapers 4x32 scope I was able to consistantly punch holes through 24 oz. beer cans at 97 yards with H & N Barracuda 10.65 pellets. p.s. the cans were filled with sand.

Thanks for the info. I usually over-use my loctite. I don't know what harm it might be causing to my guns but they seem to be okay. I don't have to re-zero after every tin of pellets. It's more like three to four tins for me.

From 97 yards? That's really awesome!
-
I'm impressed you even hit a 24 oz beer can from 97 yards. That is pretty good shooting with a magnum springer, especially in .177.

I got a full tuned xs28 in .177, so smooth!!! It has the best trigger of any gun I own. No spring noise, just a nice Ker-thunk. Liked it so much that I sold my Disco and my NP Trail to buy one in .22cal.

The gun is rubbish and tune is a joke.

Many here find them to be decent rifles especially when on a budget and Mikes work on these rifles makes them even better.
-
readyeddy would you back your statement up with some actual facts about the XS-28 you have or have owned? I have many happy customers but if you are not happy with the rifle please let me know...

I've seen a lot of folks over time who have poor results with many types of rifles, and since they can't find a quick internet solution or bolt on repair that will magically turn their rifle into a fly swatter at 50 yards, declare ALL of said rifles to be junk. All too often, the problem is the shooter and not the gun. The XS28's are particularly subject to this sort of lack of patience and ability considering their power and known hold sensitivity. For those of us who understand these guns and have taken the time to learn how to shoot them properly though, particularly Flying Dragon tuned versions, they're some of the best buys out there bar none.
-
Same reason you see so many 350 mags for sale, not many people have the patience to learn how to shoot the gun

Hey AHMSA, I'm over in Downtown Plymouth. When it warms up maybe we can sync up. I have a 28 that was tuned by MM. It was really good but out of curiosity I then decided I wanted to compare it with Vortek tune. Tom Gore personally did the tune. Trigger is very light and it is a thumper. Power is slightly lower than when it came from MM but it may be a bit smoother. It is a massive gun tho. Easily the longest rifle I have.

Hey Andrew, That would be nice. Thank you!

I agree. Magnum springgers require a lot of patience to shoot accurately. Each gun has its own way that it likes to be held. However, once mastered, they are the best guns ever... at least in my opinion.

Hi readyeddy, why do you think that? Did you buy one? What was bad about it?

Hey Mike, based on the comments I read so far, I'm very interested in a fully-tuned XS28M. Whenever, I'm ready to order one, I will call you. What I'm looking for is very basic and simple... I will be asking for a unicorn. I heard you can help with that!
I recently ordered a Hatsan 125 and I will give it a try. I recently read a comment in reply to a list of guns that someone mentioned he wanted to choose from. The comment was to admit that eventually he will own each one of them, so just start buying them in the order he prefers. This seems like the case for me. So I ordered my 15'ish gun / 3th magnum springger. I'm guessing it won't be the last one either.

I recieved my .25 cal MM-tuned B-28 for Christmas in 2013. I haven't bought myself an airgun since. I have my eye on a few, mostly because I would like a good, lightweight .177 beater to tote around in the river bottoms. Something with enough power to take mid-size critters up close, that I can buy pellets for in the store, lol. But the B28 is still my most favorite airgun that I've owned. I have had some sweet shooters, too.
