Title: Hatsan 155 Torpedo .22 mini review
Post by: Brutuz on July 07, 2010, 11:58:05 AM
Tested another Hatsan the last week: a .22 155 Torpedo 155

I tested a .25 Hatsan 135XRD in May and was mildy positive about that one, this 155 is much better.

It comes with open sights (Truglo) and a scope stop + bipod.

The standard version is 12.5 fpe (Poland), the one I tested has been tuned to 30 fpe. (No power restrictions in the Netherlands)

The finish is superb, the stock looks much better compared to the 135 stock. Like the 135 the 155 is large too, but the general feel is better.

Cocking still requires both arms, but it's been tuned and I'm not that big.

Grouping was avarage using 4 types of H&N pellets, was good using Gamo Pro Hunter and Gamo Pro Magnum's and surprisingly best using 13.43 grain Umarex domed pellets. Unfortunately I didn't have Superdomes to test. Allthough it has a shock absorber system it recoils quite a bit. The weight of the rifle and a relatively loose hold upon firing benefit accuracy. A 12 fpe version should be even more accurate.

Loading a pellet is a breeze, the shrouded barrel is floating and pushed forward by using the bolthandle.

I proceeded like this: push barrel forward by using bolt handle, cock rifle, push cocking arm  release button, slide cocking arm back in forward position, load a pellet while muzzle was pointed at target, close, release safety and fire.

At first it shot Umarex pellets @ 1250 fps, after cleaning the barrel the dieseling gradually stopped and now it setteled @ 1004 fps average. Not bad for a .22 and still groups well.

The trigger is good, very nice rifle.

Here the vid I made about this Hatsan:

Teasing me some more, eh, Brutuz :-)?  Nice vid, and it just makes me want one all the more.  Still haven't been able to locate a US distributor, or even a non-US distributor willing to export here.  What would it cost to get one from the Netherlands :-)?  Just for the *(&^ of it, I just emailed Hatsan to see if they have a US distributor for Hatsan branded guns.  It'll be interesting to see what kind of answer I get.  Maybe I'll have to check into becoming an importer myself.  Later.

I'm not a trader nor run an airgun business ;-)

Airgunexporter.com (Dutch guy living in the USA) assisted me in importing 2 Crosman's from the Crosman Custom Store into the Netherlands, for a modest fee, maybe he also works the other way around, wouldn't hurt to send him an email and ask if he could import a Hatsan from the Netherlands to the USA, you never know.

Thanks Brutuz.  That's one sweet looking piece.  If it was available in the U.S. I would be sorely tempted to pull the trigger.

That would be Vincent VanGerven, and I already contacted him, he only exports, so no joy.  Heard back from Hatsan, no US distributors.  I keep running into dead ends with this thing!

Gene, did I REALLY see you say you wanted to get your hands on a HATSAN SPRINGER???!!!  Someone call the guys with the long sleeved white jacket, I think I've just gone 'round the bend :-).  Or Gene has.  Don't know if this rifle is all that, but it's got some interesting features that I'd like to check out in person.  So I guess I'll just have to keep plugging away until I find a way to get hold of one.  Stay tuned.

this is complete B. S. !!   i've been trying for about one year now to get these newer magnum springers.  i've tried EVERYTHING mentioned here - no dice.   hatties would do sooooo well over here.   they steadily import shotguns over here.  why can't they throw some airguns into the shipping containers ??    ......bull sh--......complete bull sh-- !!   i just got a .25 caliber patriot quattro from the webley guys.   it's nice.  bigger than the uk, or noble patriots.    49 coil mainspring.   i should post a review of it.  but be forwarned.....they aren't available, yet.    more B.S., i know.  there seems to be a lot of that stuff down here in texas.    if anyone wants to discuss how we can smuggle some these magnum hatties into our possesion, email me.  let's brainstorm.    - paul.    email :  raneintexas@yahoo.com .      ........and gene, i'm proud of you !

Received your PM, sorry, I'm not a trader nor run an airgun business ;-)

Best thing to do is call Hatsan and ask if they or one of their dealers exports to the USA.

Snookman, it looks as if you may be correct. I found this over at CobraAirguns.com:  http://www.airgunsbbguns.com/Daisy_Winchester_1100_SU_p/day1025.htm (http://www.airgunsbbguns.com/Daisy_Winchester_1100_SU_p/day1025.htm)
Except for the butt-plate and checkering on the stock, it looks very much like Brutuz's Hatsan. Apparently Daisy imports them (but only in .177?). I think it's something for a Daisy air rifle to cost $300.00., but if it's a quality piece, I say more power to them. That's a darn fine looking rifle you have there Brutuz! :D
Here is the Daisy 1100 XSU over at PyramidAir. The one review mentions the Hatsan trigger:  https://www.pyramydair.com/product/winchester-1100-xsu-combo?m=1916 (https://www.pyramydair.com/product/winchester-1100-xsu-combo?m=1916)
Darn, but I can't leave this alone. I found this youtube video about the rifle here, again only in .177: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPCwmucX9zM&feature=channel#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPCwmucX9zM&feature=channel#ws)
Here is the impressive Winchester 850 XS22 video review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpC0UBLAFRQ#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpC0UBLAFRQ#ws)
I guess I'm done for now. phew!

Brutuz, I just got this from airgunsdaily this morning. It's a Walther Falcon Hunter Edition. Here's a link: http://www.airgunsdaily.com/?utm_source=AirgunsDaily+Daily+Email+Newsletter&utm_campaign=d1c9c70c4c-Daily_Product_Email_6_21_2010&utm_medium=email (http://www.airgunsdaily.com/?utm_source=AirgunsDaily+Daily+Email+Newsletter&utm_campaign=d1c9c70c4c-Daily_Product_Email_6_21_2010&utm_medium=email)

Here are some owner reviews of the Hunter: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews176466.html (http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews176466.html)

Do you have a link to the Hatsan you speak of? Thanks (btw, I am "Flyby" on your Crosman site)

These are great rifles, but not for me, can only shoot indoor 11 yards max, these rifles deserve to be shot outdoors

I've owned and sold this .25 135 break barrel

and the one in the opening post of this topic.

Yes the 1100 XSU is a Hatsan Model 100X.  The Walther Falcon Hunter / Talon Magnum is a Model 125. A Powerline
1000 is a Hatsan 1000X. There is a site in the U.S that sells Hatsans as he gets them in. The site is RANE AIR.
Paul is his name and he just sold a 155 Torpedo and a few other Models. That is where the Webley & Scott Patriot,
Stingray, Longbow and Tomahawk oh and Jaguar is made also.

18 months ago I bought yet another variant of the Hatsan 155 Torpedo. The Webley Domin8tor. I haven't even fired it yet. I used a friends one which got me more than interested in them, so I bought one and it's sat there ever since. Oh, I guess I'll fire it one day but it has a certain presence amongst the rest of the air rifles. It's the biggest/largest air rifle I have, both in physical size and in weight, all up with the Hawke 3-9x40 scope it weighed a hefty 10.5 lbs. The Webley, has a slightly different load port than the Hatsan 155 Torpedo, similar but different, as variants sometimes are, but I can assure anyone who fires one, it may be capable of rattling the fillings out of your teeth if you're not careful. The recoil is so much more pronounced than my other air rifle I've ever fired. It's actually fun to fire, not to mention awesomely powerful...!!!

My only regret - I could only get the .177 model at the time and wished they had a .22 model, but I guess that point is academic, since I haven't fired it yet...

where does one in the U.S. find a Hatsan 155 Torpedo in .22?

Hatsan continues to frustrate my efforts to finagle a 155 Torpedo into the U.S. :( GunnerAl, how about a "fix" for me. Can you post a few pictures of your Domin8tor? What caliber is it, and where did you buy it? From RaneAir?
