Title: Heavy Metal Connector Covers as Barrel Weight?
Post by: Sosalty on December 31, 2014, 01:26:32 PM
I'm getting prepared to jump in on an air rifle precision match.  Notice that my hold bumps right and left several inches with my heart thump.  Put a 1/2lb steel fitting up where the connector cover goes and it helps ::)  I'm still several pounds under for rifle weight.

Anyone know of somebody making heavy brass (or any heavy metal) connector covers?  Sure be an easy mod for my feather-weight s200 and seems legal for open NRA silouette.

So far, so long as it' not strapped to the barrel, adding a couple of pounds of lead weights to a rifle has helped average accuracy.  PCP or springer, when you "twitch" you don't twitch as far with a heavy gun vs. a light gun.

Don't know which gun you are talking about, or exactly what the "connector cover" is, but if it's not directly hanging onto the barrel, more weight hasn't hurt anything I've tried it on.

Actually, once I got to looking around, it's not a new idea.  My s200 is an ordinary target version in 22 cal.  Rowan engineer has one though probably not as weighted as could be, still the brass might be 7oz or so.  Combine that with Smoothshooting.com metal silencer and it'd make a marked difference.  Cool stuff once I look outside of the US.
