Is cracking! I don't remember banging it or even leaning against anything hard. I was shooting the gun a few times and I'm not sure what made me look at the front sight, but it's cracking. D'oh! I never did like the front sight, it looks kind of cheesy and cheap and what is supposed to be one of Hatsans higher end springer. Looks like they stole it off a Crosman Quest. So I guess I'll just cut it off now.

Hey Nathan,
Yeah, take it off and put on a nice after market muzzle brake. You can get a great looking brake one for $50 or less, they aid in cocking too. That's the first thing I did when I got the gun ;) The plastic sight doesn't belong, remove the rear sight too and scope it.

Kirk, I figured I'd just cut it the rest of the way off. I thought about sending the picture to Hatsan service to get their opinion. Even if they could replace the front sight, I don't really care for the look. I thought that plastic would be/ is pretty tough so to see it start cracking surprised me. Maybe it had a defect.

Kirk,
I can't remember, did you carbine yours, or just knock the sight off and then put the brake on?
I will never understand how Hatsan can make such an (otherwise) attractive gun and then stick these cheap-looking plastic attachments. Couldn't they spend an extra dollar or two and attach something of higher quality, especially one that could be easily removed for those of us who always scope their rifles?

Hey DW,
I didn't touch the barrel other than removing the plastic sight and installing a muzzle brake. Shortening the barrel will just make it harder to cock IMO. The brake I used was secured by two set-screws, very solid :D

My 135 has a different front sight with a hood and no set screw. Looks like yours has a set screw. Just take the set screw out, heat it with a hair dryer for about 30 min. and you can twist it off easily. Do you know why it looks like it turned gray

Not sure why it has that grey coloring to it. Since it's cracked, I'm just gonna cut it the rest the way off.
BTW,, does anyone know the diamter of the 135 barrel?
I'm looking for options for a muzzle brake.

Hey Nathan,
I wouldn't cut it. Put a chisel behind the from plastic (ridge) sight and whack it a few time. There are splines holding it on with glue.
A heat gun or hair dryer will make it easier to remove. IIRC I think all Hatsan barrels are 16 mm (.629"), Yes, --> correct.
I don't think the barrel is choked, so you could cut it, but IMO not necessary.
My Two Cents...........

Go to Pyramyd Air. In the search window type muzzle break. You'll see an Air Venturi muzzle break,
.655/.590 ID, .855 OD. $25.99. Part# SKU PY-A-4753.
It fit my 135 perfect without the inside adapter. It's for looks, not very heavy.

So I was able to remove the fron sight rather easily. I just pried a screw driver into the existing crack and I was able to tap it off. If it was glued on I saw no evidence of it on the barrel. I found a muzzle brake I had from before that fit it.
I'll post some pics of it soon.
