Title: A couple of Gassers
Post by: Gunsnlandies on December 28, 2014, 07:56:25 AM
Here's a couple of my toys I've been working on. The first one is a basic 78 with a fair bit of work done to it. An extra grub screw has been added to hold the barrel in place. Pellet tray drilled so the screw underneath can be undone without removing the barrel. Direct valve to barrel one piece TP seal to eliminate the need for barrel O rings and has less chance of losing pressure. Riser fitted for use of the full length shroud. This makes it very quiet. Custom made American Walnut stock sets it off nicely I think.
The second one started off as an standard AR2079A. It has had the same work done to it as the first one. Plus a lightweight long throw hammer and Delrin poppet valve fitted. The short gas tube has been replaced with a 78 tube with the thread end cut off. This now gives a good pre-chamber. Because of the power restrictions over here it only uses a 850 buddy bottle. Fitted with an auto mag loading system (same as MM sells). Stock is a reworked basic out of the box one. At the moment it's held together with the original long bolt from the target stock. This needs replacing with a standard length one. I also intend to fit a Neoprene cover on the bottle.
I know these are never going to be high end rifles, but I find the satisfaction of seeing what I can do next to improve them.... priceless.

Tinkering can be the great fun part of the hobby.  Thanks for sharing.  JMO
