Recv'd a ProChrono w/IR light for Christmas, and one of the projects is to mod my 2240 (who doesn't?). I'll update later this weekend or next week with the number changes. Gonna do alittle air valve work.
My 2240 did better then I expected:
14.5" barrel
GMAC brass breech with ext. probe
6" TKO
RWS Hobby wads 11.9g
75 degrees

I'm surprised you're not getting 600+ fps, with the 14.6" barrel and light pellets.
What are your plans for the transfer port?
-
If I had another TP, I'd probably work with it, but I dont at this point. I should run another string set without the TKO ... I think I've read that it can rob some FPS, but I would think it is minor.
I'm really interested to get inside the valve though ... its never been opened and got a feeling theres something up with the spring. Most times, I dont get a really good pierce in my powerlets .... its just a tiny hole as compared to some of my other guns. Either the pin has something wrong, or the av spring, is my guess. The hammer spring seems ok ... I've had it out several times.

Hello, I was also concerned about the small hole in the cartage. I did add 4 smashed pellets into the back of the hammer and now getting a better hole in the cartage. You might want to try that.

Shot another string this afternoon .... except I removed the TKO. Slight 10-12fps improvement for the first 75% of the string, then it ran even, and then dropped worse toward the end.
*** Thanks Don .... I'll take a look at that when I tear it down.

I agree, you should be getting more velocity either the lighter pellets, and that length barrel..
Here is my results with a 10 inch barrel,,and a ldc mounted.
Stock valve and transfer ports, but this it with the velocity adjuster at different settings.
2240 14.3 cphp
Stock springs, valve, and transfer port, 10 inch barrel
All the way in / out 2 turns / out 4 turns / out 5.5 turns

I do have a power adjuster kicking around in a box, and will eventually install it and run some numbers just like you did. But I guess the next thing I have to do is tear it completely down and see what I can see. While I'm in there I'll cut a couple threads from the valve and moderate the exhaust angle for freer flow.
45 ... you didnt mention your probe, is it stock? It kinda looks stock with an upgraded handle
-
Yes it is stock, I normally run mellon extended probes, but when I put this one together, the probe was on order. And it shoots so well, I just never installed the new one when it came in..
It's been running great for over a year, just a fun gun.
-
I'm hoping to turn mine into a fun gun ... I've had it for over a year, and opt to pull others out before this one. Its been so-so on accuracy and a few other issues. I'd like to see it somewhere over 600fps and then have the convenience to dial it back with the power adjuster. Cosmetically, I want to strip all the bluing and buff it to a shine, but I have to get it performing well. No sense in wasting my time to only use the gun once a year and be ho-hum about it.
