Hi! I'm getting an r1 or hw80 in a couple weeks and I'm wondering what the differences are between the two. I see and hear the r1 has a nicer stock and obviously comes with the muzzle break for added leverage. But the hw80 comes with globe sights which I think is a plus. I am wondering tho. Can you take the muzzle break off the r1? And are the sights on the hw good enough quality to be on the hw80? Because I would like to be able to use the sights along with a scope. Most likely Ill get a fixed variable scope for mid to long range hunting also. Would a dampa mount be a good buy? Just a few off the top of my head question I'm sure you guys could help me with. Thanks in advance!

If the Beeman R vs HW relationship is the same as with other models, then the R1 will not come with open sights. Scope only, and the MB, which may be removable but not easily.
In addition to coming with open sights, the HW80 may have a longer barrel. I know that the hw30 barrel is longer than thr R7.
Internals will be the same. The stocks are slightly different too.
If you do want open sights, go HW80 as it can be scoped easily too.
Good luck. These are great hunting guns.

Awesome thank you. I was wondering if the r1 stock is compatible with the hw90.. Doesn't sound like it..

Hw80*^

I like the option to use open sights so I would opt for the HW80,.....which is basically the same action as the R1. Great air guns and I doubt you will be disappointed with either choice. Good luck and keep us posted!!

The iron sights on the Weihrauch rifles are superb, and include options. Don't hesitate! RC

I like the R1 stock over the 80 stock. But.... i am indeed saddened that the R1 no longer has the iron sight even as an option. The muzzle break is easy enuf to replace.
I order HW80 barrels for my R1s. This way i get it all.

Nice, thanks guys. Guess I'll be getting an hw80. Or a 90! Lol I don't want to ask to compare the hw80 and 90 now because I don't wana annoy anyone on here. but I'm back between those 2. And I can't decide what the better option is. I'm mainly worried about the trigger and maintanance differenses. Oh and a scope/mount setup ..I would love the simplicity of an 80/r1 but I also love too be able to have a RELIABLE gas piston and the perks along with it.

This might be worth a look Jonah.

Very tempting for 650.. But I feel the .20 is a deal breaker on such a beast.
-
I would get whatever is the best deal. Weirauch sights are nice so I would probably get the HW80 if it was me.
-
Why would a .20 be a "deal breaker on such a beast" ?? That is a very nice gun and well worth the asking price.

Because I am going strictly .177, and am dissolving anything above.

What? I was wondering what a .25 cal R1 would be like. I have .177 and .22. Wondering if i could get 700fps from R1 in .25 cal.
Also, what would the fpe be like? I am getting 750fps from crossman premiers in .22 cal. Would i even see a gain in .25?
Have no clue how to calculate such.
