I'm going to order an HW80 from AGOA while they are $530. Thinking about getting a scope and mount as well. I'd like to stay somewhat inexpensive. Was thinking either a Bushnell trophy or Hawke airmax. Whatever I get will most likely be an interim affair that I will end up putting on the HW30 and then hopefully I'll have a better idea of what I really want for the 80. Also brand and style of mount?
Suggestions appreciated!

if 1 inch tubed scopes BKL 260-D7......Modified RWS lockdown for 30 MM I use them no stop pins when modified for 7 clamp screws

use a credit card just in case you get a lemon out of box or a ....... :-Xand let us know how it is when it gets here
Scope power range depends on intended usage I like the Hawke HD 2-7 x 32 for a hunter prefer it with mil dots over the Airmax ALSO great set up for your HW30 ....paper punching sky is the limit on power and cost

I have an Airmax on my HW30, and Tom is correct about wanting a mil-dot on it, if you're shooting a large distance spread. I put a Leapers 3-12 compact swat etched reticle on as a replacement. Heavier, but shorter and better functionality.

A mil dot, or preferably a half mil dot scope, would be an excellent choice. The Hawke Varmint is a side-focussing scope available in many ranges of variable magnification, from 2.5 - 10, 3 - 12, 4 - 16, and 6 - 24 X 42 in the $150 to $200 range. They are very good scopes for the money (although someone will jump in and say he had one and it broke and its a pile of &^^&; I have eight of them FWIW). For a solid yet inexpensive mount consider the UTG/Leapers one-piece mount (medium will probably do). It has a stop pin to match the stop pin hole on the HW80 receiver. The mount should be less than $20.

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate it. I have requested some price quotes from AoA, PA and S.S.
Tom on that BKL 260-D7, did you just tap the center hole for a little added clamping force?
Also I bought one of those pellet sampler packs from S.S. when I picked up the HW30s. With iron sights I couldn't tell a difference between the pellets. This time I'd rather just pick up a bunch of tins. Again suggestions would be great. Otherwise I'll just be taking a stab in the dark, so many choices!
Oh and the HW80 will be in .22

The BKL260-D7 has 6 clamp screws needs no modification
The RWS lockdown comes with 4 clamp screws drill and tap 3 more (total 7) and use full length screws and you then DO NOT NEED the recoil pins

Okay. In that picture there I thought you were holding up the bkl and you had added the last screw. Clear as mud now thanks!

American Airgun Classifieds
ForSale: I have a newer Hw80 forsale it has a Vortek spring, Vac seal. guide is made from shafting top hat is also made from shafting. It was lubed with Maccari lube when the upgrades were installed.the trigger is also excellent and breaks like glass. Gun has not been shot much and is in near perfect condition. It shoots crossman premiere domed pellets at about 820 fps very consistently and will shoot ragged 1 holers all day if you do your part behind the trigger. Price is obo and I am motivated to sell (wife says no more new toys until I sell some guns off). I would trade for gold and silver too. Gold or silver
Asking Price: $450 plus shipping
Seems like a decent deal. Emailed the seller. Not sure why you would post an ad with no pics? I'd feel better if this guy was a member here or on another forum.

I would also recommend Hawke. Sweet glass and the best warranty out there!!
I bought my last 4 from Dave at http://www.wyverncreations.com (http://www.wyverncreations.com)
He got me an 8.5-25x42 Sidewinder with half mil dot reticle for $340 shipped!! Lists for ~ $529.
If you decide on a Hawke, get the model # of the one you want and send an e mail to Dave.
I use BKL mounts on all my rifles.
Good luck and let us know when the lady arrives!!! And PICS!!

Thanks for the heads up, but its too late for this.........'guinea pig' scope. I'll see what Dave can do for me on the next one though!
Ended up with:
Hawke Sport HD 3-9x40 w/mil dot IR
BKL 260-D7 mount
And a bunch of random tins of pellets. Which I was a little overwhelmed at all the options.
As to the pics I'll try. I keep getting messages that I can't post external links. Matter of fact I got that message after quoting your post and it was the external link in YOUR post that was flagging me. So I guess they REALLY don't want me to post any links! I was able to finally put up an avatar pic off my iPad yesterday. Maybe its just something to do with my phone which is where I post from most often.

Pretty sure after 20 posts you can post links.
