Title: Huntington Beach HW 97
Post by: Duckfish on December 23, 2014, 12:35:13 AM
Yep, this one has been in a gun safe for 15 years.  It comes with an old school Simmons 44 mag scope
6.5-20 x 40 and a Beeman scope bubble level.  Early serial number so it has the 25 mm piston.  Owner says it only has half a tin of pellets thru it.  I just lucked into it on the yellow.  Well not really I had been lurking on the yellow for days looking for a cherry deal I could afford.  You know refreshing every 20 minutes or so. I'm not addicted!  Just dedicated!
Is due to arrive on 12-29.  Merry Christmas to me.  Nothing better than a new airgun at Christmas!

Thought?    ::)

Duck

P.S.  I truly believe buying used airguns is the way to go.  We are lucky, in this country we can buy sell and trade airguns freely.  Used airguns are green.  And generally better quality.  Often they have been tuned and are better than new guns.  Visit the classified gate often and see what I mean!

That's a gem.  Even the scope is perfect...the old Philippine-made 44mags are great airgun scopes with very good glass.
Great score; you must be watering at the mouth to get your hands on it!!

Feathery Fish you are gonna love it!!
You couldn't pry mine out of my grubby fingers!!
Amazing shooter with the sweetest firing cycle!!
Mine is at the Motörhead Spa......after 50,000 trouble free rounds she snapped a Vortek spring. I called Tom at Vortek to tell him how thrilled I was with the performance of the HO kit and he offered to send me a replacement spring no charge!! I told him absolutely not and am having Scott put another kit in.
That rifle will shine Ed!!
Enjoy!!

Very nice rifle and just in time for your Christmas present.  ;D  It looks to be an older one with the 25mm piston, rather than the 26mm the newer HW97K models use.  They are reputed to be even sweeter shooting than the 26mm ones, so I think you made a real score.  ;D

I think we are both lucky, I have a Gene tuned HW97K on her way to me. :)

It arrived today.  I will shoot on Wednesday and offer a full report.  First generation HW97.  With less than a tin of pellets.  I wonder if it will shoot?

Opened box last night.  I have had an R1, minty R7, minty R10, and an R9, all nice guns.  I must say this HW97 has the best darkest bluing of any Beeman iv owned or seen.  I'll see if I can get some pics on Wednesday!

The RSO for the range did not show up this AM. Hope he is ok he is a dedicated dude and him not showing is odd.

But no fear I came home and took some photos on my wife's side board.  Do not tell her!  I also shot over the chrony.  Pretty impressive numbers for an old gun that has not been shot in 13 or 14 years.  With 10 shots using AA 8.4 it ave 868 with an ES of 11.  Using FTT it ave  861 w an ES of 7.  Those are like PCP numbers, right?
 Here are some photos
It's Joe's fault they are upside down, but they are right side when you click on them.

She seems to be in excellent shape Ed!!!
Numbers are very good too!! Healthy lady!!
Firing cycle?? Twang or buzz??

I'm pretty sure Mrs Fishy either knows, or will soon, about you messing with her stuff bro!!
Be very careful!!

;) Hey Mr. Duck were you flying inverted when you took those pictures or were you just having trouble holding the camera with those wing feathers. Congrats on a really nice score that is a really nice rifle , it's ok I just held the lap top upside down to view them ;) ;D

It's Joes fault!  But if you click on them like I said they turn right side up!  Would want you to drop your laptop.

I would not worry about his well being if I were in his will. I am sure my inheritance will only be days away. :)

And yes Booger you are not in my will,  unless of course I'm in yours?

I am sure you would not want my Great Grandfather's Masonic sword. :) The best I can figure it was made in the late 1800's. I got the sword, my brother got the ring. I asked for the sword when I was 6, should have asked for the ring. LOL

Hey bro!
Highly is a vast understatement!!
He has done ~ 9 tunes for me. All on high end springers.
The work is exceptional, communication excellent, very reasonable pricing and quick turnaround.
A bunch of my friends have used him on my recommendation and have been thrilled.
Highly regarded tuner on this site.....don't tell him I said any of this or I'll never hear the end of it!!
No web site. Just send a pm with any questions you may have.....great all around dude to deal with!

;) ;D And if you like to tinker Scott is not stingy with information He will probably blush from all the praise but he is really a great guy and I look forward to eventually sending him one of mine to tweak . Probably my .22 TX200 or .177 D460

He did his majic on my .177 Marauder.
So boringly accurate, I had to sell it.
Put the VORTEK in the R1....1050fps with CPL...
Massaged the TX.
My RWS 48 is waiting in line for a VORTEK.
I will help him, er, I bring the baked goods! ;D

We forgot to mention, he is a nationally recognized model speedboat champion.
Trophies all over his house.
In fact he is coming back.
Model boat drivers, beware! :D

;D I'm just happy he is as dedicated to air guns. From what I have seen of his work in AG's those model speed boat guys don't have a prayer . I'm also sure that when he shows up on race day a lot of those guys are going to shake their heads and pray that something on his boat breaks during the race or he just runs out of fuel  for sure you will see a whole lot of this  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Me and the boys shot the Concord steel Chicken match on Sunday.  The gun shot real good.  Sighted in before the match.  Barn Daddy was there and threw down an outstanding score in varmint pistol.

Tonight I thought I would clean the barrel and guess what?  It had never been cleaned. 14 years the factory grease has been on the rifling.  Can't wait to get the barrel leaded up tomorrow and see how it shoots now.
