I'm going to buy one or the other(TF 87 or 89) within the next 2 months, both in .22. Which should I get? Is the 87 better cause it is more fps? Is the accuracy the same? Or could someone suggest a different .22 under $200 that gets at least 18 FPE?
Thanks,
Conor

Or the TF Jet?????

Have you checked out the TF-99? Really powerful. Weighs about the same as a M48. P.A. has them under $140 with free S/H.

Not the 18fpe that you are looking for but the Crosman Titan is a good .22 gun. I got mine for $150 at Walmart and I am using the scope and rings that came with it with no problems. I took a possum with mine at 26 yards a couple nights ago. I think most are getting around 700 fps with 14.2 grain pellets what is that, about 16 fpe? It is plenty powerful for me.
Randy (Atchman2) loves his TF89. He took a coon with his the other day.

I got my 89 a few weeks ago and its an awesome gun.I have taken three squirells at over 30 yards and all one shot kills.I put a 3x9 centerpoint on it and its working great.

Don't do the Jet as an introductory TF rifle -- it'll give you the wrong impression unless power and a thumbhole are the only important things. Either the TF89 or TF87 are great choices, and to me it comes down to underlever or breakbarrel. I like breakbarrels... But it depends. Right now I would not buy another breakbarrel as I have enough. You may not have that issue ;-)
Occasionally you can find an RWS 94 for under $200 (really more like $140), and they are a great buy. I have a used Walther Falcon Hunter that was detuned to 18.5 fpe. It pretty much looks new. I have it for sale at $170 shipped, but would take $160 from a GTA member and kick back 3% to GTA.

I'd either pick an 89 or an 87. I have both and consider them equal. The 89 is easier to shoot since it is break barrel, but I give the edge on power to the 87. I'm in love with both of them! :D
Don't buy a Jet for a first rifle from them. I have two TF 99s, one is perfect and the other one is okay. I don't suggest them either unless price is just a consideration. I use the 99s as my plinking and open sight guns. They are a lot of fun for that as they are easy to cock and fairly quiet after they break in.
