I just bought a Hatsan 25 Supertact in .177 at a great deal from Midway, & want to give a quick review of it. I am spoiled by the old Sheridans I have owned over the years , so going to this type rifle is a different step for me, completely.
The rifle/pistol came boxed well from Midway & when I opened it, I was quickly surprised by the quality of the steel & workmanship of it. Thank goodness for the longer muzzle adapter to aid in cocking it, because it takes quite a bit of effort , especially as a pistol. Nice fit & finish, decent sights , pretty good trigger right out of the box, but I will probably adjust it a little after break-in.
I started shooting it right away & was impressed by the power it seems to have . Every screw was good & tight on it . Sights were far off so I started adjusting those til it was getting better. Then, I cleaned the bore very well & started shooting again. JUst sitting in a chair without any support & using Hatsan pellets , I walked the point of impact down & to the left & into the bulls-eye area at 10 yds, after about 20 more shots. I will leave it right there til I get some more shots through it. It has the detachable stock & there is significant wobble, vertically using it. This greatly affects accuracy & I may try something to tighten it , later . Only one pin secures the stock so that is the reason for it. An artillery hold seems to work best with the front of the firearm pushed up a little tightly, to counteract the wobble. After shooting it a bit , I remembered to do this, so I may just get used to it.
Overall, I think it is well made, powerful enough for my use , [ plinking ] & a bargain. If all Hatsans are made as well as this, it is no wonder why they are well liked !

Hello,
I also purchased one of these Hatsan 25 Supertact from Midway, from their sale right after Thanksgiving. I purchased one in .22 caliber. I've had a Hatsan 25 Supercharger for a couple of years now and it is in .22 caliber as well and I've enjoyed it. I always felt that this Supercharger would sure benifit from a folding stock, and right after that, I saw they had come out with this. The killer deal on these at Midway, was crazy cheap. I am talking about $122 off list original price, and that's a bargain. It was basically 75% off.
It sure was exciting to see the box had arrived when I got home from work that evening, and I opened it up like a kid at Christmas. The funny first thing was their instruction booklet was from the Supercharger. LOL...had nothing to do with the Supertact. Well...it's basically the same gun but...the butt stock is what I wanted to read about.
I was pleasantly surprised that this pistol carbine has an improved feel over the original Hatsan 25 Supercharger. The trigger is a lot better on this one, and I like the feel of the solidness of the design. I never have been a fan of the sliding action of the 25 Supercharger, and this one without the sledge that never seemed tuned just right, is a lot better to me.
I was surprised at the solid feeling of the adjustable butt stock. I have little doubt that this is the same stock that is being used on there PCP pistol, AT-P2 that cost close to $500.
I made a mistake by loosening the screws to raise the adjustable comb and they came all the way out. Took me a little while to get them installed back correctly, as the little square nuts and screws were barely long enough to grab. There is room for improvment here, as I think a thumb stud so you could grip the screw, raise comb to needed height, then tighten, would improve the guns stability.
You are so right on the wobble of the adjustable butt stock. It doesn't fit the receiver hole with tight enough tolerance. There is a cure that I am working on to fix this, preferable one easy to install, easy to make, and one that will improve the lock up on the butt stock and take out all the wobble.
I also found the button to remove the butt stock to be a tad short. It makes it hard to remove the butt stock as you almost need a tool to push the button deep enough to slide it out easily.
On the stock wobble, while it does wobble, it still aids in shooting vs only holding as a pistol. I tried both ways, and it greatly improves the accuracy but...there is accuracy lost fighting the wobble so...an improvement here will be good.
The gun shoots solid, without any twang on my pistol, a quick slam is more like it. It is hard to cock but the shoulder stock makes it a lot easier to cock than the pistol alone as same I found on my supercharger. The gun is a little quieter with the cocking aid as well, and I love the fact that this thing is threaded 1/2-20 which is common for muzzle devices world wide. Even a hollow tube extension will help quieten it down a tad and makes it easier to shoot but will fit into a smaller case with it removed and stock taken off.
The only problem that I have had so far...is one to watch for. The butt stock has developed a crack at the first raised boss after first notch coming from the main rear receiver. This crack goes all the way from side to side and is about the top third of the frame of the adjustable stock. This crack could probably be glued.
I am hoping that this is just a fluke. Hatsan USA is working with me to get this corrected and I hope the remedy is a stronger piece. Should this be a future concern, I am planning to look into making a replacement part that one could swap out and be a strong, replacement that will not break in the future. I hope that nobody needs this fix but I will be looking into it as a precaution.
Have yet to tear into the gun, as I wanted to make sure it was working well before I opened it up. No other issues are to be reported at this time.
The little gun sure seems to have a lot of potential, and I believe it is well worth stripping down, cleaning out all the factory lubes, switching out to a better quality piston seal and even spring, and custom guides, and will button the piston at same time. Trigger should respond to careful work as well. It's a diamond in the rough, with some polish, should be a fun backpacker pistol. I can see using this hiking or fishing or taking on a trip as it won't take much room to pack in the suit case or throw it into the back pack and go hiking. Find a quiet place in the woods and pull it out and start plinking away. Should be very relaxing.
I think it begs for a small scope, something compact and light yet strong. Perhaps even a small Bugbuster.
It also could use a single attach sling mount for carry. Will be another future mod. Weaver rail? Oh and they are now making this with a gas ram so that might be an option before long, to buy the gas ram and switch out the spring for gas ram with factory parts. Should be an easy swap.
Merry Christmas to You and God Bless,

Good review, too. The last day of the sale of these at Midway, they had a couple of .177's for $50 !! I paid $78 for mine. I think that with only one pin holding the stock, it is going to wobble, no matter what. I will try some simple fixes with mine .

Just an update. I have shot many more pellets through mine & am getting used to it.The opening & lock up of the barrel has gotten a little easier , too. I am making nickle size holes in targets at 10 yards, which is pretty good for me. I haven't done anything to the wobble with the stock & have gotten used to that as well. Still very pleased overall with the quality of this firearm. I wondered how a scope would be on it . Anyone out there added a scope to one of these ? What type, if you have ?

Update on my Supertact:
I found that the adjustable stock main frame rod had cracked at the first big notch. I notified Hatsan and they finally sent me a new adjustable stock system so I am very happy about that customer support.
Haven't done much else with it since then though so no other news to report.

I also have a Supertact. A .177 VORTEX.
I love it to bits! Great fun!
I also found the stock has play. Not on where it mounts on the pistol though, but where it slides. And only in rotating direction.
If you have any fix I'd be very happy. Tried tape etc to no avail.
Iirc, the AT pistols and AT44-10 tact use the same stock.
What pellets do yr Supertact like?
Brian, where exactly did yr stock crack? Do you have a pic?

I have been shooting only Hatsan Vortex Supreme in mine & am pleased. I just got some Crosman Premier Hollow points, & Premier Ultra Magnum, but haven't tried those , yet. No fix for the stock play , but I am pretty well used to it, now , & add upwards pressure of my left hand when shooting to stabilize it. That is working better than I ever thought it would & I am getting decent accuracy.

So how are the long term experiences with the 25 Supertact now please ?
Thinking of buying one for carrying along in my hiking bag, since you can detach the stock.
-
I have had a couple and I really like the Wire Spring version best. The Gas Springs can go dead on you but that issue seems to be not as bad now days.
Also haven't heard of the Sear springs breaking as often so maybe that was fixed also.
Over all? I'd say get one.
I'd go with the .177
Check and fix the crown and chamfer the breech area if needed. Clean the barrel real good also.

I gave up on mine a couple of years ago, & donated it to the forum.

I would go with a Crosman Custom Shop 13xx add a AR stock adapter, and you will have a very accurate carbine. IMO the Hatsan 25 Super Tact is more of a conversation piece.
-
One thing about the Supertac , is that it has enough power to take small game, where many air pistols do not.
-
Right, that's my thought as well, powerful yet compact and lightweight too.
I am contemplating a .22 for short distances. Won't be used for paper punching, when I need the ultimate accuracy for that I'll pick up my Diana or Weihrauch.
Btw. thanks for the suggestion, but I've owned several 1377's and their triggers are not the best to put it in a nice way. Since I'm not a tinkerer, I am looking for alternatives.

im not sure that the .22 supertact is better for critters than say a 1322 with a stock... with minor tuning my 1322 shoots 501 fps with 14.3, while for what i gather, the supertact gets about 450 with 12 gr hobbies... a 2240 gets more power than that... dont get me wrong, i love the idea, but will like it to really be useful as a carbine, which allows you to go a bit farther than 10 yards. if the Gods are listening... a LP8 with a stock would be AWESOME!... but then that is a .177... what are your .177s supertacts getting power wise?

But they did ;)

Still, costs twice as much as the Hatsan 25 Supertact...
Given the fps of .22 for the Hatsan I see here, I wonder if a .177 might be a better choice and shoot it with heavier pellets.
If the Hatsan doesn't even reach the fps of a 2240, then it will be really short distances only. I have owned several stock 2240's and I was not impressed by their performance on 10yards.

550+ FPS is more the normal for the .22 with Crosman 14 grn
That was in the wire spring versions I've had. I reworked one that got around 620 FPS with the Crosman's.
Current Tact is a .177 Wire Spring. I've not chronied it nor tuned it yet.
-
The Hatsan .177 I had was shooting mid 600 fps.

Wire or Gas spring? That sounds about right for a stock .177
A good tune and spacing the Wire Spring up does raise the FPS. I space till just before coil bind.
And do custom guides. It takes work to really get them shooting good as I found out!
I'd like to take the short barrel off and use a longer barrel next to see if that helps FPS.

I dont think that will make a difference, as lenght of barrel matters little on a spring gun. if it was a Co2, is a bit different. the spring guns dont move as much volume as the air/gas guns that may be adjusted to dump more gas/air. spring guns have a constant volume , what we change is how fast we can compress it hence increasing pressure. that is why some springers with carbine barrels shoot a bit faster than their full rifle lenght cousins.

So ordered the .22 QE version... Contemplating a full aluminum Red Dot sight as well. I'll give it a try and fingers crossed !
