Title: HW 57 and more
Post by: JimL911 on December 17, 2014, 05:31:52 PM
JM is placing an order after Christmas and it will include 57's. Start watching his Todays Special end of Feb-Mar for those interested.

Interesting perspective.

Just want to let ya know; I snagged a hw57 at the Hickory AG show back in October. I love it. It cocks easier than my hw50s with similar power output. I'm surprised that these gems were not marketed sooner in the US. Mine has a Vortek kit installed "per the seller" and is a smooth shooting underlever. The only downside that I can see is the rifle has a bit of a crack when fired than the hw50. Mine is in .177 and is a 35 to 50 yard shooter. ;D

Beeman sold them when I bought my R6 around 2001, they had QC issues with the loading gate.

One hopes that in the intervening 13 years that they have fixed the problem.   Perhaps the UK report of bad workmanship was dating an experience at that time.

Cheers!  Merry Christmas!

I have had my 57 for about 10 years. Never had a problem with the loading port and it's just as accurate as my 5 other HW rifles. :)

The HW57 is one of the few Weihrauch models I've yet to try.  It seems like it would be a nice blend of an HW50 in power, along with some of the features of the underlever HW77, but with its own unique pop-up breech.  Do those of you who own one think the HW57 can keep up with the HW77/97 for longer distance accuracy, say 25-50yards?  Of course it may have a bit less power, but accuracy is what counts most to me.  I might have to get Maccari to put one on order for me or look for one on the used market.  ;D

Not a fair comparison as my 77 is not a K and is .20 and my 57 is .177 but I have a reset target at 25 yards with a 1/2 hole and on a calm day can hit it equally. I would say at distance, in the same caliber, I would have to give it to the 77/97 just because of the higher fps.

To put it another way, when shooting paper on a calm day my gun of choice is as follows:
30S, 57, 34(OS Kit), 77, 50S, 34K, 34 Panther(.22), 95.
