Title: 98 at 100 yards.
Post by: palonej on December 09, 2014, 11:54:13 AM
I have an HW 98 that Scott kitted with a Vortek SHO kit.
Pretty sure most of you know how I feel about this superb bit of kit.....watching too much You Tube!!
Had her out the other day and at 50 yards she was on big time!!
Set up a target at 100 and started plinking around. Not bad!
Put a Snapple bottle on top of a protein jug laying down with the cap facing me.
Took some ranging shots at a 3" target then tried to put one thru the cap.
This was the first attempt. Picture a very stupid smile!!!
I was shooting FTT 4.51....they, along with LOTS of other pellets, shoot great in this rifle!!
The pellet went thru the cap and blew out the back of the bottle!!!
Too cool!! That's what my nephew said when we went to check out the bottle!!
Did I say I LOVE this rifle before??
 ;D

With all the good shooting guns you have, has the new Walther LGU struck a chord as of yet???????  I am looking hard at it and may wait to see what others have to say before diving in.  It seems to have modern technical potential that would put it right there with the best of em'.

Joe that is some wicked shooting. Springerrrr I have LGU due to weather I have not shot it past 27 yds and it shot 5 into a ragged hole. It is an excellent beautiful rifle

Actually thinking Joe shoots these at 50 yards with a mirror along side target.  See's self at 50 and doubles the distance for us to be in 100 yard AWE !!!

Or just perhaps he does do this at 100 yards ( still with a mirror ) which would be 200 yards !!
Which is even More impressive !!

Darn good shooting buddy  8) 8)

So Scott do you like the .177 barrel or the .20 barrel with the RAW at distance and is it regulated to 12 fpe or 20

;D I try not to praise Joe too much it's bad enough sitting next to him at the fun shoot his head takes up 2 spaces as it is . I'm sure he has told you how he has lit a match at 25 yards with 2 different .177 rifles.

The .20 is a work in progress being a custom made up thing using a Vintage Sheridan Brass barrel sleeved in Carbon fiber and then into a larger receiver end adapter. Barrel has NO choke so it is proving somewhat pellet picky.

* need to get a hold of some JSB exacts in .20 cal being the ONLY pellet not tried yet.

Rifle is regged & shoots the .177 cal @ 18 1/2 ft lbs and .20 cal @ 19 1/2 ft lbs changing nothing but barrels.

That's what I call very consistent for a springer - impressive numbers !!!

Hence I can understand that "stupid smile" you always decribes  ;)

Thats a pretty flat shooting gun there. None of my R1s could do that at even 75 yards.
Hitting the bottle opening is doable. Its just the plunging angle of the pellet at that distance will not allow me to enter the opening AND hit the rear of the bottle. The pellets always exit the bottle just inside the opening at 6 oclock.

More great shooting. You have a HW 97, and a 98. This means the next logical gun would be HW 100. Is my thinking flawed or something.

::) ;D Ok Joe Tom has found you some wiggle room now you can claim that the HW100 was just the natural way to go

That's mind boggling accuracy at extreme distance, especially for a spring piston. The Darkside is gonna have a very hard time winning over Joe P!

The dark side was only created for those who couldn't master the spring.

Boing Vs. Puff wins out every time.

I hear there is going to be a shortage of spring steel next year.
