Looking to get more of a hunting air gun, have a .22 Disco but looking for something with a little more knockdown power. Here is my issue, i only have a hand pump and won't be using a scuba tank to fill, the .25 has 3000 PSI to fill instead of the 2500 the .22 has. Plus the .22 has twice as many shots as the .25 does, but I'm wondering is it really worth the power behind the .25 bullet. I'm looking to be able to head-shoot hogs/ coyotes with this gun and I'm wondering if its possible with the .22 caliber. Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

2800 psi is not hard with a decent hand pump and if you are looking for a hunter the .25 is a better way to go. The .25 definitely has more smack down than the .22 and the green Mountain barrel is as accurate as any out there

I agree with sfttailrdr46,
I would definitely go for the .25 cal for what you want it for! The .22 is not going to the job like the .25 will. My .25 Mrod was a great gun and very accurate. I filled it with a pump sometimes and it wasn't that hard pumping to 2800 PSI.
If you shoot a hog with a .22 you are just going to make him mad ;D
Get the .25 end of story!
Good luck

Thanks guys appreciate the input, I just wanted to know if the .25 is able to pump with the hand pump, would love to have the FPE behind the .25

I timed myself a while ago going slow with my Benjamin pump on my .22 marauder from 1000psi to 3000psi and it was like 11 minutes, not horrible...

You should be able to hand pump fine.
Only problem you might run in to is if you don't weigh
very much you might have a little trouble pumping as you get closer to 3000psi
Here is a thread on shot placement for pigs:

.25 Mrods have the edge on the .22.. .25 Mrod has the better barrel.. Plus anything the .22 can do, the .25 can do and then some..

Get the .25,mine is a laser.
I too only have a hand pump.Since I only hunt with my rifle its never been an issue as far as being hard or a real bother.I keep my gun filled anyway.

For hogs and coyote the .25 is a better choice. You might want to look into the Sumatra .25 they are on sale at PA for $525 shipped with a coupon. Guys are getting around 100 fpe with the Sumatra .25 out of the box with a 50 grain pellet.
The negative with the Sumatra is they are as loud as a 22lr on high and medium settings. For about $125 - $135 Anthony Storey will quiet it down. If I was hunting coyote or hogs it would be with the Sumatra .25 with a Storey LDC..
