Title: Need replacement stock for Hatsan Striker
Post by: texgunner on December 02, 2014, 07:32:23 PM
Hello all,

Had a mishap today with my Hatsan Striker Edge, while I was out doing some plinking the left side fore end of the stock just simply broke off in my hand when I shot the rifle, this rifle hasn't been shot a lot really, maybe 400-500 shots, but never any issues with it other than the typical screws came loose once and I just removed the screws, put a dab of blue loctite on the threads and snugged them back up and it has been shot several hundred times since then without a single issue until today when the stock broke.

I have sent a request on Hatsan USA website and I sent an email to Rick Eutsler just a while ago, I'm hoping to hear back from them asap so I'll know what my options are in this matter.

I'm posting this here in hopes that if someone on the forum has an idea of where i may be able to get a replacement stock, they can let me know.

I would like to put this action in a wood stock instead of the plastic thumb hole stock that it came in, based on what I've seen it looks as though all of the Striker series rifle would be able to use the same stocks, if anyone knows for sure if this is the case please ring in here and let me know.

This rifle is fairly accurate for what it is so I want to keep it up and running if possible instead of scrapping it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on this issue.

Merry Christmas to all and hope you're having a great day.

Hey texgunner,
If the gun is less than 1 year old, the stock should be covered under warranty :D
Rick will help you,

Yeah I need to email him back, since after thinking about it a bit I remembered I bought the rifle back in January from Airgun Depot this year so it should still be under warranty.

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna email him back and see what he says.

Just sent Rick another quick email to ask if it would possibly be covered since it was purchased less than a year ago.

Thanks again SpiralGroove

Hey texgunner,
Rick will just tell you to go on-line to HatsanUSA and fill out a warranty claim.  Their going to ask for the serial # and the date of purchase.  Just tell em the plastic stock broke & you want another.  If it were me, I would ask for a wood stock replacement ;)
HatsanUSA is slow, but the come through every time.

Good luck.....-> :D

Thanks, SpGr

Yeah I already filled out the claim form earlier, but I told them I thought I had bought the gun over a year ago when I filled it out, but now I have realized that it wasn't that long ago and actually less than a year, I also told them I would like to replace the stock with a wood stock if possible, nothing against the syn stocks, but if this gun would have had a wood stock the breakage problem would not have happened and I like the look of wood better personally also.

When Hatsan makes contact with me I'll tell them that I actually remembered getting the rifle back in Jan on this year, they will likely need proof of purchase which I actually just found, I bought it on 1/24/2014 from them so hopefully they will warranty it for me.

Yeah,
Don't worry, you'll get another stock -> free.
They may make you pay something for a "woodie" though.

So sounds like if I want the wood stock I may be looking at spending $35 to get it, not to bad I guess but it seems that since mine broke and is still under warranty they would possibly cut me a little slack on it, at least thats what I'm hoping...

I guess when I hear from them I'll know for sure, Thanks for the info here big_o_lar

Just wanted to post a quick update concerning the replacement stock I'm needing for my Striker Edge.

Hatsan contacted me early this morning about this issue and told me that they will send me a new plastic stock under warranty at no charge or if I would like to upgrade to a wood stock as I had requested that could be done for a cost of $20.00, they sent me the link to got and give brief description and send payment via PayPal, it was a very simple process and they were very quick to return my messages.

Now I'm looking forward to receiving the new stock and getting my action settled in it, so far I can say that dealing with Hatsan on this issue has been a pleasure and they seem to be on top of things.

No doubt I plan to do more business with them in the way of buying more of their products.

mine looks like that just a tad lighter.your gonna be amazed how quiet it is[no twang] and how it tames the recoil.

Oh Yeah, I'm purdy excited to get the wood stock to replace the loud clangy plastic stock, the plastic stock is comfortable to use but it sure makes the gun loud and I figure if it broke like it did not even being a year old, it probably wouldnt be the last time I had this issue with it, so thats why I wanted to just get a wood stock and be done with it.

As far as the color, I'm not to concerned with that since I do wood working and can refinish it to be what ever I want it to be if the color isn't what I prefer it to be.

This Striker is a very solid shooter and hits hard, I think the wood stock will make me more accurate with this rifle since it will tame it a little and I have the Welsh Willy trigger in it now, I do think I'm gonna fiddle with the trigger and see If I can reduce the travel in it a bit more though, still a tad long for my liking but butter smooth compared to stock set up and very lite on the second stage pull which is nice.

just wanted to report hatsan sent me the new Woodstock, the stock looks excellent.

it fits perfectly and made a huge improvement in how this rifle feels, I haven't had time to sight it in and shoot it but a couple times but it's definitely quieter and just has an overall better feel to it compared to the plastic stock.

after inspecting the plastic stock I think I know why it broke at one of the front mounting screws.

While taking the action out of the plastic stock I noticed the the plastic around the screw was very soft and gummy sticky feeling, after loking closer I realized that the blue loctite that I had put on the screws is what had literally melted the plastic around the screws when a little had squished out from around the screws.

I didn't use a generic blue thread locker either, I use genuine Loctite brand and it destroyed the plastic after being on it for a while, I've never seen this happen before but I wanted to let others know here that the loctite will ruin the plastic stocks used for the Hatsan Striker.

athis has made me want to avoid all of the plastic stocks from now on and just go with wood, I can say honestly that for the $20 Hatsan asked for the wood stock I got it was a darn good deal, nice hardwood, beautiful grain and a very nice smooth satin finish, machined in checking is very well done and the stock has a very nice comfortable feel.

Hatsan customer service is excellent, very friendly and helpful, Top Notch in my experience and they responded quickly and shipped my new stock quickly, couldn't have ask for a better experience.

Thank you Kirk,

Yes I'm a happy camper with this stock, $20 was a heck of a deal on it and the customer service at HatsanUSA is excellent.

Anyone still know if the walnut stocks are still $35?  Want to upgrade my Striker Edge stock.  Can't stand the vibration.  Thanks

When I contacted HatsanUSA with my broken synthetic stock issue, I told them I would like to upgrade to the walnut stock rather than get another plastic stock, they ask me to send them $20 through there payment form and they shipped me a new walnut stock, very nice stock actually and I got it within just a few days.

Mine was a warranty replacement, so maybe thats why it was only $20.

Does someone here knows if HatsanUSA sells the AT44 stocks, I want to order another stock for my AT44 short, my wood stock has a lot of scratches and marks on it (all my fault).

If they do sell stocks, what would you recommend: The tactical stock, the walnut stock or the standard synthetic stock. I do a lot of hunting in "rude" environments, so the stock needs to be able to take some scratches and bumps.

Cheers.
