Title: FWB124 dates of manufacture
Post by: RedFeather on July 26, 2010, 09:53:29 PM
Owners of FWB124's have been able to write the factory and request information regarding when their gun was made based upon serial number.  This used to be a courtesy service but, recently, FWB has been asking for 60 Euros (about $45 USd) to make the search.  They have also stated that guns in the 5K, 10K and 15K range can no longer be verified (per an email to one owner).  I recently asked any owners who had factory-verified 124's to list their dates and s/n.  Also, anyone who didn't know the factory date but remembered when they bought them new.  The responses were as listed, below:

Per FWB Factory search:
S/N   Model   Date
5974   124   1980
10012   124   1977
17023   124   12/01/78
20400   124S   05/01/79
26000   124D   12/01/79
34476   124   09/01/80
37900   124D   04/01/81
39800   124   05/01/81
44001   124   10/01/81
49992   124   10/01/82
51631   124   1983
52589   124   05/01/83
57200   124S   05/01/85
57600   124D   03/01/85
61600   124   03/01/88

Per date of purchase by original owner:
12500   124D   05/01/78
23600   127D   09/01/79
29600   124   1980
31600   124D   06/01/80
35000   124D   04/03/82
45400   124D   07/16/82
51281   124D   04/01/83
61000   124D   10/01/87

Dates beginning first of month
indicate data was only known at
the monthly level.  5974 may be
a factory records error.

If anyone here on the GTA has such info for their gun(s), please feel free to post it.  If Gene or someone could add this to the library, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for collecting this information.  I don't have a 124/7 yet, but this will be really handy if I do get one, and I probably will someday.

It looks like they were producing over 10,000 per year in those early years, so the 5974 must have been a first-year gun.  I can see why FWB probably discontinued this model, by 1988 it looks like they probably made not much more than 1,000 per year.
