Title: Hw90?
Post by: Hoffman9517 on November 17, 2014, 02:07:57 PM
Hi guys. No doubt in mind that the hw90 Is a great and quality buy.
BUT (oh the buts) I have the option to buy a new benjamin trail np2 for $200 with a mount (probably &^^&) and a centerpoint scope. Seems like a good buy. I already own a rws 350 (my first airgun in fact) and that things very picky with scope and mount. I hear the hw90 is worse.. I'm mainly looking for a winter rifle with synthetic stock. Don't want to call it a beater but buying $5-700 air rifles I would worry even more about losing quality. So.. I was hoping on getting some advice from some more experienced airgunners on what I should do here.. Should I save my money on a proven German quality hw90 I know will have all the quality I could ever want only with a wood stock I'll probably feel skeptical about bringing out in the cold and wet weather out here in mass also buying the correct mount/scope. Or do I get the cheaper china or American made I don't know trail np2 for less? Help! I am at work so I'm not re reading hope I'm clear In all my questions. Thank you In advanced I know there are some very knoladgeAble people here. This is my second post of many too come I'm sure!

Between the BT and Bronco, all I want is German, UK, Air Force, & MROD series guns. The BT & Bronco left such a bad taste in my mouth I cringe everytime I see one.

I had the Benjamin Trail and IMHO it is not worth the frustration.

Oh! BT benjamin trail. I'm dumb. But ya idk what the bronco even looks like but I'm sure it uses the nitro piston. Thanks though it just seems like a good deal. Maybe one worth the frustration!

IMHO, the quality differential and durability of the HW is "worth" the higher price and perhaps a longer wait to purchase.

If you want a powerful high quality breakbarrel, I'd suggest taking a look at the R1 too.  They are great hunting springers, built like a tank, accurate, and likely less expensive than the HW90.

Personally, I really like a wood stock that shows evidence of use.  It is made to be used, not to sit in a gun case.

Good luck choosing.

Very true the guns are just too nice at first. But yeah my original plan was to get an hw90 for the ram working in the cold weathercand quality one time buy kind of thing. Also I would think my 350 magnum would be well up there with the r1

Save for the HW90. I've had the Beeman RX series guns (same gun) and I hear all this &^^& about how terrible they are on scopes. That's not really true because I tuned mine up to and over factory specks and they were smooth cocking , smooth firing, and not a train wreck that some flos make them out to be. If your going to scope them than get quality mounts and really crank them down. You won't warp the action so don't fret it. I had good results with the center point scopes and Hawks scope. The worse scope I ever used on a springer were BSA scopes that shook loose on a very great and docile diana 34. They are pricey and on the heavy side, but they are a hunting rig and the weight helps. Get a sling and barrel clamp swivels. Well worth the investment. Good luck :)

Just picked up the HW90 in .20 caliber. 5 shot string=21 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle...

Awesome thanks for all the answers so far. A good few more paycheck a and I'll be saving up for the hw90. I'm excited! I think it'll compliment my 350!
