A quick GOOGLE of
Quote
mtc viper verses hawke sidewinder scope
had 11 1st page hits on the subject.

owning BOTH a Sidewinder Tac 30 4.5x14x42 and a MTC Viper 4x16x50, both being used as Hunter class Field Target scopes ... here's my take.

Hawkes 1/2 dot is VERY fine and more precise than the MTC's SCB reticle .... But also the finer dot/dash gets lost in low light and cluttered backgrounds making the SCB the easier to use.

Hawkes SF is very good in getting decent target distance when up at 12X, but the MTC snaps in/out within a narrower range being in application more precise.  +1 to MTC

BOTH have pull out too adjust turrets, push down to lock.  Hawkes requires a Torx screw to be loosened setting scale ring back to zero.
MTC uses secondary tightening collar you do with bare fingers being a lot easier to change scaling ring.  +1 to MTC

BOTH come with sun shades and dust caps ... Hawkes caps are cheap plastic push on types and near worthless fitting loosely.
MTC's are Metal flip types with o-ring seals that thread on and adjustable in rotation for position.  +1 to MTC

Hawkes MSRP just south of $500 and MTCs south of $400

End of the day ... Both are a GREAT value for the money with either one being one sweet set up on any Field or HFT use Air Rifle.

Plan on keeping them both, there Both great scopes IMO  8)
