Title: Opinion poll
Post by: tponch on November 12, 2014, 09:38:46 PM
I am interested in finding out personal experience / opinions on the following Rifles, Hatsan 125, 85, Umarex Octane, Stoeger X20 and Browning Leverage. I am looking to purchase one of these to begin Air Rifle hunting ( all in .22). I have been reading up on each model but many of the sources seem to have connection with the manufacturers, I am looking for some real world experiences. Thanks in advance

I recently bought a Hatsan 95, which I believe is the 85 with a walnut stock instead of a synthetic one.  So far, I like it and am impressed with its metalwork (bit of a marred finish on the stock, though), it is fairly nicely balanced, relatively easy to cock, not overly loud, and pretty accurate; last group I fired with it yesterday at 10m was a single round hole about 2-3mm smaller around than a dime.

Read up some reviews on Pyramid Air, AirgunDepot, Amazon, and several other vendors who carry these guns.  There are also some good video reviews on YouTube - in particular, check out the professional-style ones by Rick Eutsler of AirGunWeb.com (but recognize that he's the official Hatsan USA customer service rep).  I believe he has reviewed all of those guns except maybe the Browning.

Thanks Badgerfan, your experience is what I am looking for. I am sometimes leery when reviews are to good and It seems the reviewer has a stake in the game. Eventually I have found if you look long enough the truth rises to the surface. Good luck and great shooting.
