Title: GRT III Trigger Install Problem
Post by: josixpack on November 06, 2014, 02:13:13 PM
I have a Stoeger X20 and purchased the GRT III trigger from Charlie da Tuna.

Before installing the trigger I read the instructions and watched the youtube video several times.  The trigger installed without any problems and I filed just enough off the safety lever tab so that it just passes over the pin.

I know trigger mechanisms can be very finicky so I used much caution with my test fire.  Glad I did as the gun fired when I pushed the safety off.  Tried again and the same thing happened.  I took it apart and looked at things (not sure what I was really looking for) and everything seemed in place.  Put it back together and tried again and with the same results.  I put the original trigger back in and it worked fine however the safety does not work anymore which is to be expected after filing down the safety lever tab.

Any suggestions??

You might need to back out the silver screw so it's not hair trigger. The X20 safety just blocks the trigger pin preventing the trigger blade from being pulled back. On yours...the sear most likely releases from the jolt of the safety being pushed. When I installed my GRT III blade I made sure I have enough grab from the 2nd lever to the sear, I use a flashlight to check at least 1/16th contact. I do all this before I put her back in the stock.
Have you seen Brutuz youtube post?

I'll give that a try? I watched the video a couple times and the trigger installed just like the video with out any issues.  Is the "grub" screw the silver or the Allen screw?  It was suggested to back out the "grub" screw 1/4 turn at a time.

Thanks for the suggestion!!

I had to back one of mine out when it arrived (I owned 3 at one time).

It takes less than a 1/4 turn to make a large difference.

It's slotted, the front is small allen and it's for taking out trigger slack and only need tiny adjustments for both.
