Well I have got "The Bug" with these dadgum spring airguns and it only took 38 years..I have been looking through a few forums for airguns and this seems to be the cats meow when it comes to covering "Everything" I have ever had a question on concerning spring airguns..With that said I would like to say thanks to all the people that post on here because ya'll have answered a LOT of questions that I had.. I am finally registering because I might as well.. I'm on this site at least twice a day... Thanks for the great forum ya'll have here..I will try my best not to post up redundent questions that have been asked by so many newbies.. The search engine has done wonders for me already.. :) Adios' for now.. Hank... New Braunfels TX..

Welcome to the GTA, Hank!
"Search" is your friend, to be sure! But it's always good to ask the questions again, just to see if we answer them the same way! :D
I don't see too many tongue-lashings about "do a search!" on this forum, and that's one of its charms.
What are you shooting, or looking to get?

Welcome Hank, nice to have you with us. I'll be looking forward to your future posts.

I have a .177 Gamo 220 Hunter that is in need of some love :( and I just purchased a Beeman R9 .177 from a High School ROTC auction that I am really pleased with($240 and only shot a handful of times :). Just put a Barska 4x32 airgun scope on it and after cleaning the barrel and oiling it I am getting 1/4" and less groups at 25 yards and 1/2" groups at 50 yards with the Crosman Premier HollowPoints(these have shot the best in this gun out of about 6 different high end pellets).. I never knew an airgun could be this dang accurate.. The Gamo shoots the Gamo Match pellets almost as well. I am looking forward to "Shadow" doing an upgrade on this gun and putting a NEW trigger on it.. If it shhots this good with that nasty stock trigger I can't wait to get it rebuilt with a new trigger..Anyways I'm sure this is the beginning to the end as most of my "Addictive" hobbies turn out.. I will most likely have a whole gun safe full of airguns by this time next year :/ .. Thanks for the warm welcome..I'm sure you will be seeing a few posts here and there from me..Adios' for now..Hank
I am looking to get a springer for my son (he is 11 years old) that has about 700 fps..Any advice on to what Model / Brand they have out there that might fix him up?? Definitely not a high end gun.. A Gamo or Chinese brand that would get him started would be just fine.. Thanks in advance for any info...

Welcome Hank, it sounds like you are off to a good start with your R9 purchase. As far as the youth gun, I would suggest a Mendoza RM200 in .22 or .177., a Crosman Raven, or the Bronco, which is a modified RM200. The RM200 is the first gun I bought and it's still a favorite. It's light, carbine sized, and medium powered. Just don't oil it as the manual suggests and it will settle down and be very accurate.

Glad U found this group Hank.
You'll find a wealth of info here.
Hey, I think that at 11 years old, he can just about handle anything that cocks in the 20 lb range...which gives you a lot of choices. I'm partial to fixed barrels, but own breakbarrels as well, and like 'em...as do most here.
I don't think you can go wrong with a Gamo or Crosman...for the $$$$$$
But I'd think ahead "DAD"...buy a model that you like too, and if he loses interest in it, WELL, you have another gun in your collection ;D
